Well, since my vr4 will be in the garage for a while, and it's super fking cold outside, I have bought a new used car for the winter and beyond. 1995 Saturn SL 5 speed manaul 100 HP 1.9 Liter 90,000 Miles 40 Mpg on the highway. 1000 bucks, Cash. The women was like, hmm I dunno, my husband told me not to sell it for anything less than 1200 (asking 1450). So she tried to call the guy but couldn't get ahold of him so she said "Well you seem like a nice guy, OK" What do you folks think of the deal? Greg, try not to be jealous of my beater. Jason

SL1 or SL2? Or didn't they use those designations in 95 anymore? Is that the 1G body style or 2? I actually always liked the look of the first gen Saturn sedans, but then didn't care much for the second body style.
Definitely sounds like a good deal, though.

Hmm, yeah, it looks like 95 was the last year of the body style I like. If the car has black bumpers, it would be an SL or SL1 with a ~100 hp 4 cyl = 40 mpg highway. If it has bumpers that are the same color as the vehicle, it's an SL2 and should have a twin cam version of that motor with 25% more power and 35 mpg highway.
Good buy either way.

Yeah it's the SOHC engine with 40 mpg on the HW. It's actually not that bad. Maybe because it's so light(no power steering even) and it is the manual. I can imagine the AUTO version is just a dog. I was reading the Turbo Saturns forum and it sounds like it would be a fun project to install a nitrous wet kit in it with a 75 shot. The word is the SOHC engine has lower compression and can thus handle the 75 shot with less issues (for how long, nobody knows ) But atleast the car was cheap so it doesn't matter that much. Some guy on that forum had that same setup plus some other bpu stuff and he was Dynoing at 175 hp and 195 ft/lb of torque at the wheels. That would make for a fun little sleeper on occation. LOL
