This will be the first winter i have my 3000gt and was wondering how many people in wisconsin store there car. My insurance runs out in like 10 days and i was just thinking of not renewing it and storing it for the winter i dont really have the money to pay more insurance. And on that note how much do you guys pay for insurance mine is 260/month through american family. thanks for your help

first of all I would like to say that american family is THE most expensive insurance company I have ever seen and really shitty when it comes to making a claim. you would be lucky if they don't drop you after TRYING to make your first claim. (been down this road already) so have others that I know.
also I park mine for the winter. and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that does.

If you do store your 3/S over the winter, keep comprehensive insurance on it. That will cover you if it got vandelized, or a tree falls on it. Comp insurance should be less than half the cost of full coverage insurance.
Also, some insurance companies frown on you if you have a gap of time with no insurance. They might conclude you've been driving around with no insurance. So I'd highly recommend keeping Comp on it if you store it.
later, Curt

I store mine in the winter. It just sits in my garage.
Last year, I cancelled insurance on it completely, but this year, I planned to do what Curt recommended and keep comprehensive on it just incase something falls on it or whatever. Plus, I believe I'd maintain my multiple car discount that way.
I have American Family and they are the cheapest I've ever found. But it's likely I get a huge discount with them. I insure 2 vehicles with the plus home owners insurance, and have been a customer for 14 years with only 1 minor claim. I believe I pay about $275 every six months for my TT with FULL coverage. Cheaper than anywhere I've found.

I store mine.
Parents help me out, the car is under my mother as primary driver of a 4th family car. It's like 120 a month or so, year round.. storing it don't save me anything on insurance but it makes me sleep better at night.

I'm going to park mine too. Usually try to start it up and back it out at least once every 2 weeks. Used to put Stable in the gas tank, but as long as you keep the tank close to full, and you run the car once in a while, you can probably go without it. I also remove the negative battery terminal.
Then in spring, the oil gets changed regaurdless of how many miles are on it. I also used to flush the auto tranny fluid in my ATX base Stealth.

I store mine. I usually fill the tank but I'm going to try it with a 1/4 tank this year. Then fill it up next spring with new gas and a bottle of iso-heet.

I would recommend it. I finally got a garage this year, and mine will never see snow again. Being that they don't make the cars anymore, it's a good idea. If you have other transportation, definatly. Good luck!

The first years I owned my VR-4 I stored the car in the winter and bought winter beaters. The problem was the winter beaters wouldn't keep running so I would have to break out the 3000GT to get to work.
I decided that it would be better to just bite the bullet and drive the 3000GT. The 3S cars handle very well in the snow. If you wash the car everytime the temp is above freezing salt isn't a major concern.

I've been pretty good about storing mine the last 3 years. Before that it was hit and miss. But I am with American Family . Regular insurance for my ES comes out to about 72.00 a month and when I leave just the comp it was like 100.00 for 3 months. But I feel that if my garage fell in I would recoupe a little of the loss. Hum maybe I should check into insurance that has a decided value vrs a assumed value? I have enough stuckinto it. But my car has seen snow and dang for having as wide of tires that she does the thing holds it's own pretty good. Tim

I haven't had my Stealth for that long, this will be my second winter with it. I'm not storing mine.....I'm going to be driving it again this winter. I have nothing else to drive so I have to. It's been kind of tricky since I slide all over the place. But I've stayed on the road so far, so good. I also have American Family Insurance and I only pay $78.00 a month!!
