I figured that it was time to move on and quit wasting W3SI band-with on a huge run-on thread, so I'm starting this one. Plus, we pretty much down to banging out a better tune on the emanage and then playing with the timing and seeing what the DR500s are really capable of, and I figure people might actually be intrested in that.
So without further Ado...
Last night I went out and flogged her for a bit. I needed to pick up a CD by two russian lesbians, and I needed to do it in a hurry. So I took the stealth.
I can run 18.4 psi with no knock, which Greg seems to think is fairly amazing. I'm not so sure that it's as much amazing as it is a few degrees of timing behind where it should be. If most 3/S's run 21* advance at WOT and I'm at 19* I think that could very well be giving me a bit more room for idiocy. It also doesn't make me any faster, and probably rockets my exhaust temps. But I digress.
I did a looooooooooong pull on the highway last night on the way across town. tru 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and to almost the top of 4th, but I was pretty much hauling ass, and didn't feel the need to really stretch it any further. The white lines are pretty much dots at 150 and even the stealth really starts to wander. max knock count was when I let off in fourth, it was 12. not sure if it was from shifting or from the HOT AIR not getting cooled down by the intercoolers. I can't really complain about the intercoolers though. Mine are pretty much putting up with a buttload of abuse now. and still seem to be doing well enough to keep the knock out for all but the meanest runs.
So I got the CD (in a hurry) and on the way back I was really enjoying the car. I really like watching that Greddy boost gauge make a bee-line for red.
On the way home a large red desiel pick up truck with some super swapers and some dual whip antenna's was revving (hitting throttle and letting off) at me and giving me crap. Mullet man's passenger actually leaned out to yell something at me. (It probably didn't have anything to do with the underbodies...

) So we hit the next redlight and I rolled down my window and told the guy if he didn't shut the hell up I was gonna make him look bad in front of his girlfriend. (I'm pretty sure it was a dude in the passengers seat, but in all fairness it could have been a she mullet.) Either way it pissed him off. He had one foot on the brake and one on the gas. Auto.

So I waited for the light to turn green and rolled out of first (stock clutch.

) and gave him a pretty decent head start. Then I romped on it. I caught him before the top of first. By the top of second I could see his whole truck in the rear veiw and by the middle of third he either turned off on a side road or he was so far back I couldn't see him. I wasn't sure, nor did I care. I just know that next time him and his little buddy run across a red car with red neons they won't be asking if "I have a hemi."
Next car on the way home was a Ford Probe with a fart can. The two sixteen year olds started rocking it back and forth. taunting me. A ford probe was my second car. I put about 50k miles on one. Hard Miles. there is not alot any one can do in a probe that will suprise me. This one was no exception. I knew it was fast when I saw the kids inside both had there hat's sideways. It takes alot of power to turn
two hats side ways. The Probe went down like my ex-girlfreind after a 1/4 bottle of Jack. Wasn't pretty.
Next thing to rev at me was a V-6 camaro. Actually I don't really know what it had. But it wasn't fast. I hope it was a V-6. Or it had a block behind the pedal.
By this time I'm back at my house. I pulled her in and cooled her down for a good ten minutes. lifter tick... sigh. pulled out my floor fan to give here a helping hand. man that car heats up the garage once she's warm.
I shut it down, and pulled the dip stick. oil on the dip stick looked really good. Smelled like gas. damn-it. Grab the socket wrench. drain the oil.
I'm gonna pick up a case of Kendall GT-1 15W-50 and a box of oil filters until I get this sorted out.
I'm putting gas in the oil pan for two reasons I believe. one, the part throttle accel is still rich in areas. two, when I'm boosting to 18.4 psi I have the boost limit set rediculously close. 18.5 PSI. and I can see the warning light flashing every now and again when I'm on the throttle in second and third. This drops the PSI to about 17ish and then builds it again. the tune is for straight 18.4 PSI. So I have to get that nasty dip in the boost curve fixed.
Only problem is the Emanage is less than freindly for one guy to tune. I could run the logger, logging RPM, both o2's and the throttle position and then go back and play with the cells, I suppose. Or if anyone wants to help a guy out let me know. Greg? Matt? Roy? Brett? Bryan? Anybody?
Greg, did the TPS on the logger corilate to the Emanage in any shape or form? Obviously the logger is gonna start about 10% higher, but what about the rest of the 85% swing?
I like to get this sorted out before the NG, and also before I need to by stock in an oil company.
Adam.
