Oh, I will be calling you sometime Roy. I'm waiting on Alamo motorsports to get me my stuff... then, it's on. To words Greg. Emergency Brake. So back to the project at hand for a moment. Where my rear intercooler line runs into the turbo there is an O-ring that seals inside the inducer of the turbo and gets bolted down from the top. The turbo is off by about 1/2 a degree, which isn't a large deal until you try to locate the bolt on the plenum that helps hold that line down. also not such a big deal if its off, until you do a pressure test and that line leaks at the seal to the turbo. So I went and got a O-ring at napa cause mine's 10 years old. swap the o-ring. leaks less, but still leaks. anything above 6 psi and you get a small leak. I had mitsu order me an o-ring, cause I think there's might be a little "fatter." Most come 3/16" width and I think that because the inducer to turbo pipe is sligthly bent an a little loose I will need more like a 1/4" width O-ring. the only problem is the only time I have ever seen one of those is at the nuke plant, and they were about 45 dollars a pop. (they were also guaranteed to hold back radio active waste) So I went to martin hardware and found this plumbing tape stuff that is rubbery and wrapped it around the intercooler pipe once, then put the O-ring on, and it's better, but STILL leaks. any more tape and I can't get the damn thing in the hole. So I'm at a bit of an impass. I can wait until the Mitsu O-ring arrives on wednesday and try that, but if that doesn't work I'm up that preverbial creek. oh, and hair spray didn't help at all. The good news is that seems to be the only significant leak. other than the oil cap blowing off at 11 psi. I'll be dumping coolant and changing oil tonight. then starting it up. wish me luck...

I have to go out to a job site after work and take a few measurements cause I love my job so much, and then I should be on my way home. So I'll probably start at about 6ish. If your coming over bring some warm weather...

You mean the drain plug? I don't remember if it has a gasket on the end of it or not...

The plastic drain plug that screws sideways into the radiator. I believe that it has two rubber o-rings on either side of the screw. That lets the radiator drain out of that little plastic tube that sticks down through the plastic brush guard. I put everything back together. changed the oil. filled with coolant. started the car. Both my father and I watched the car like hawks. oil pressure right away. It did have a really funky lifter tick for about five minutes. I didn't want to rev the engine at all as I was trying to work the air out of the coolant, so we grabbed a screw driver and listened around the engine to make sure it wasn't knocking. It sounded like it was coming from the rear bank on the drivers side, but went away as the car ran a bit longer. Still have a bit of lifter tick... NO LEAKS (other than the petcock). yet. knock on wood. So after feeling a little bit braver after it idled for a good fifteen minutes I took the car out for a quick drive. It ran fine. Smelled like burning oil. The kind of burning oil smell that comes from some dumb kid that dumps on oil on a turbo he is about to put in his car. I should have known better. stop on the road and wait for about five minutes. pull ahead and check the pavement. no leaks. at all. sweet. Brought it up on the highway and went around green bay. all normal. came back home in traffic to see if the coolant was good. it was. no belt sqeaks. even with the A/C on and getting on it hard. So I've got that going for me. Brett, I met your black Supra on Main street as I headed home. I hissed at him. He did not want to play. I sat in a parking lot over looking main for a long time playing with my data logger. He did not come back. pish. automatic. bah. Checked under the car before I left the parking lot. no leaks. brought her home, and parked her in the garage. I have a peice of cardboard under the car to check for leaks. I'm expecting my old oil leak from the crankshaft seal, but hopefully that's it. I also have a white rag under the petcock to see if the coolant is old or new. (Green or Orange) After I came home from the car running so well I drank one of Brett's beers. Yes, Life is Good.

Lifter tick is normal if you haven't started your car in a couple weeks. Even my car does it with the new engine.

The rag had a few drips of Green fluid on it, but that's the old coolant, so I'm not to worried. It sat all night, so I think that it has stopped. the next trick will be getting all the plastic sheilding back on. I have to get the broken off bolts out of the very front of the car... What should I be looking at on the logger? I ran 7 psi last night, which was fun. today on the way to work I ran 11psi with no knock. I can't seem to get boost in first gear, or above 3-7 psi. I think that may be related to the boost controller needing to be futz with, and the boost leak at the rear turbo. And my pressure sensor and wiring harness for the e-manage shipped today from alamo motorsports. So I should have that in a few days. Then I get to enter a whole new level of trying to blow my car up.

If you're feeling daring enough to bring your car down this Saturday, I'll put the covers back on, fix the boost leak, retune the EBC, and show you what you need to know about logging.

I'm so there. I may put the covers back on, and re-tune the EBC. You may have some tips on that though, so we can still take a ride.
I brought it to work today 'cause the mercedes was out of gas and I played with the stealth to long and just went to bed after I got back. We can look at the boost leak for sure though. It's driving me nutz.
First impression of the DR500's is that they have lag. more than the 9bs. It may be the boost leak, but it's really not that big. It's not that much lag either, but more than the 9Bs. not saying they are laggy. just that they have a "tad bit more lag." the pressure jumps instantly to um... zero... then hesitates for a split second then starts ramping up. where as the old 9bs never had that hesitation. car also seems a bit louder, perhaps because more sound gets through the clipped exhaust wheel? Holding 11 psi to redline can be summed up in one word.
Orgasm.
You may get a kick out of this, Greg. I stopped by Craig's house on my way home at about 10:00 with the car and offered a ride. He did not want to go. He was talking absolutely zero crap while my car was idling in his driveway other than the stripped threads, which I guess he has a right to. I then went home and offered a ride to my father, who also turned it down and also decided that maybe his truck will not keep up. I also talked to my uncle who always gave me crap about how fast his SVT Lightning is. He also no longer talks crap about how fast his truck is around me. Big block boys talk a good game, but there seems to be little to back it up in my neighborhood.
I can not wait to get some cams in the car so it has a rougher idle and squeaky brakes. There will be many suprised people at red lights.

Before you start any major races, let's take care of those little issues first.
