Yea I am kind of worried that something bad might happen. I do not drive the car much at all. I only drive it when i need to. I just hope the main bearings or something major is not going to happen.

Half way up the gauge at idel I've never seen a 3/S with that high of pressure at (warm) idel. Not even my 95 base when it was new. I can not for the life of me find what the exact psi the oil pressure should be at idel.

I would have absolutely NO reason to lie about it. You are welcome to sit in my passenger seat and view my oil pressure gauge any time you would like. You are also welcome to stop by and look at the charcoal engine (remember the NFS comment?). Like I said, I have no reason to lie - only trying to help a fellow owner with a possible issue. Where are you going with this? I never claimed anything about Jesse's motor. Think you need to go back and reread those posts. I have no doubt your gauge reads what it reads. However, just because your gauge reads high doesn't mean it's normal. Unless your car is ideling really high or something...

Well maybe we can hook up sometime. I am very busy during the week with work but would be happy to stop by sometime during the weekend.

Maybe you need to follow your advice and reread those posts, as you advised me to do. Jesse had the unfortunate experience of purchasing a bad engine, and all I did was post that it was "charcoal". That resulted in an unsolicited NFS - my posting regarding his engine did not in any way affect the person who responded in that manner -
That's my mistake then. Your carbon doesn't lead to performance post came off as insulting. That's why the NFS was posted. My apologies if it was not ment to be. However, my current vehicle has a new oil pump, short block, sender, and clean connections and the gauge still does not read half way up at idel when the motor is warm. As with every other 3/S I've seen. I don't want to guy to get the impression that because it doesn't that there is something wrong. That's all.

The gauge isnt supposed to read halfway up at idle. But it should while cruising. It was calibrated this way. I got this info straight from my shop manuals. No offense to you Jeff cause you know I trust you 100% with my car, but it just seems the oil pressure gauge you have is a little off. Or is it not a stock gauge we are talking about?

So what is the normal oil pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI) for 6G72?
The stock gauges aren't too much different than idiot lights except idiot lights tend to be more accurate in their reading and interpretation.
On my old Ford 289 V8 I would get 26 PSI at idle and 46 PSI at 30 mph. I was using an aftermarket mechanical gauge from Autometer.
At what pressure should the bearings and oil pump be replaced?

Should be no less than 11.4psi at idle.
