All... I received a call from Scott "SJ" Cowan this morning. He is in the cardiac unit of Waukesha Memorial hospital. Yesterday his heart stopped and he passed out. Since then, it has stopped 2 more times. The doctors believe it is an electrical issue and are considering options right now. Pacemaker or drugs (side effects...) they are unsure. Please include Scott in your prayers. If you have a message you want to send Scott, please either reply here, or contact me privately at jrink@wi.rr.com and I will relay your message(s) to him. I will be visiting him as soon as he's willing to accept visitors. I sure hope he improves... Our spirits were very high when we talked on the phone... we were joking around and stuff like usual (and talking about the good-looking nurses - I told him to give them my phone #) Then when I hungup, and especially writing this message, that it sorta hit me when I realized the seriousness of the problem. Jesse

Update...
I talked to SJ two times tonight so far. This last time we talked, he said that they are going to put him under tomorrow around 5pm or so to install a pacemaker. He will also be getting a serious dosage of drugs to help combat the problem. We're all a bit surprised it only takes *1* hour to put a pacemaker in. Like SJ said, it takes longer to do brakes!! wtf?
I'm stopping by the hospital tomorrow during the day to take him some DVDs so he can watch them. I guess they have a dvd player in his room. COOL! So I'm rounding up Stripes, Blazing Saddles, and Old School. Nothing to cure the blues like some good ole gut-bustin' humor.
I'll reply back when I know something more. Jesse
EDIT - forgot to mention that he thanks each of you for your words of encouragement.

Went and saw Scott today at the hospital. Dropped off a few dvds for him to watch in his spare time (as if he doesn't have plenty of that right now). He's doing well and was getting himself prepared mentally for surgery. Spent a lot of time shooting the shit about doctors and people we know who have gone through some crazy-ass procedures under the knife and whatever else. Of course we also talked about our cars and such. We had a good chuckle over an email that Bob Forrest sent me to give to Scott. 3 pages of an unfinished story which should be made into a theatrical movie someday. However, we had a hard time determining whether the story was completely true, mixed with half-truths and exaggerations, or completely made up, haha - one never knows with Forrest . Guess we will have to wait for part-two via email. I'll update more tomorrow. Thanks again to everyone who expressed their concern.

Hey everyone: Just a quick note of thanks for all your well wishes. I got home finally yesterday around 3:30p. I'm real sore, itchy, tired, bruised, shaved and covered in yellow iodine and adhesive where they kept putting on all those sensors. It's been a ride. Since Monday at Noon my heart has stopped 3 times, I've had 3 out of body experiences, I've had a heart cath, a pacemaker installed and am now on many meds. Apparently I have a bad capacitor in my ECU. My heart and arteries were all good, but under a normal something-er-another (technical term), my heart would not respond correctly and instead of pumping more blood and increasing pressure, do the opposite and then quit for over 30 seconds, needing shocking two times the last couple times to restart. Medical terminology sounded was like "maligant cardioinhibitory response with episodes of asystole." But because I only play a Doctor on TV, I'll have my Doctor write it down for me Wednesday. First time it happened I was just standing there at work waiting, I just made it to a wall to sit down. Then again right after arriving at the ER. One of the doctors told me I gave him more gray hair. Luckily a nurse responded as I couldn't telling him he looked good with gray hair, making all of us smile. I was then rushed to the cath lab where they checked out my heart in what seemed like 20 minutes. But when they knew it wasn't the heart, they brought in an electo-physiology (sp?) expert. The following day during a "tilt test" it happened again, and they were encouraged they now could treat me. They say in 2 months I'll be 100% if not better, back to work in a couple weeks. Anyway, this whole typing and thinking thing is tiring, so I'm going to go lay back down for now. Thanks again to all of you for your prayers, concerns and well wishes -- I can't tell you how much I appreciated them all. And a big thanks to Sundance... errrr... Jesse -- the DVD's and visit helped much. Best, SJ
