Hello, Does anybody know which gaskets or parts I need to do this. I'm getting a manifold from Brian@GTPRO from 3SI on friday. I would like to try and get this done by the Dells gathering, any info would help. Does anyone know, does Brian own GTPRO? Would having a hoist make this any easier?

No, you don't need a lift. I'd imagine it's a lot like replacing the manifold on a DSM. You can leave the turbo in place (all lines + 02 housing attached). All we need are the manifold to turbo gasket and the head to manifold gasket. Oh, and a lot of PB blaster. We might break an exhaust mani stud or two into the head so maybe an Easy-Out and replacements.
All of the parts can be obtained through the dealer. I'd recomend Ty from Speed Factor or one of the WI dealers that honor our club discount. Believe Checker carries these gaskets, but they are not nearly as nice of quality. I would not recommend cheeping out on them. You'll be sorry later.
1 week before pulling the turbo, you should lubricate all the studs at least once every other day. This will make removal MUCH easier (less chances of breaking studs and cross threading nuts). Spray them while the motor is cold, then start it up and let it warm up. Yes, it will smoke like a SOB, but trust me, you'll be fine. Leave the hood up for this. Don't drive the car while everything is burning off.
Pull out both front fans and the turbo heat shields before hand. I can help you with this. I got the next few nights open + I wanted to give you a couple things. Give me a hollar!

Ok, I ordered the manifold this morning. Not sure how long it will take to get here. Ordered the head to manifold gasket and two precat to downpipe gaskets since I think the downpipe will have to come off. I can't get the gasket for the manifold to the turbo though. Can anyone help me track one down or pick me up one and mail it to me? What tools do you think I'll need for this job?

You won't need the pre-cat gaskets. Like I said, we can do this without removing the turbo at all. However, it's a good excuse to gut the cat. We will be going at this threw the top of the motor. I don't think we'll need to go under the car for any reason. Why can't you get the mani -> turbo gasket? Did you try any of the dealers? What about the online shops? I can't remember if the nuts are all 12 or 14mm. Think they are 12. The heat shield bolts are 12 for sure. Then we just need a small + medium extensions. Oh, and a 10mm for removing the innercooler pipe in the way.

Haven't checked the online guys yet. I was going to check at Kaysers today and see if they could get it. Right now I'm hoping to do this next weekend. Assuming all the parts get here and the weather is decent. The front of the engine is considered the right side correct?

Next Saturday is my birthday party. I could help you out Friday after work. We can probably get it done that night. Just depends on how easy everything comes apart, and if we break any studs. 5 hours should be more than enough time to swap it out. Coarse, I say that, and, just watch, we'll run into trouble.

Guess what I found? Got off both heat shields and five of the six manifold nuts last night. Didn't strip any nuts or break any studs. I used a 12,14 combo to get the manifold nuts off. It IS the greatest combo ever! I'm gonna get a 14 mm socket today from work and get the top three turbo bolts off which should give me access to the last manifold nut. It's that SOB over on the far left. Didn't have to revome the radiator or fans! Look at these pics and let me know if you think my cars performance will increase any! This thing is so cracked it might come out in two pieces! Thanks Joe! http://bryanlouis.net/~user/Joes/cracke ... ked001.jpg http://bryanlouis.net/~user/Joes/cracke ... ked002.jpg

Manifold got shipped today and the manifold gasket and downpipe gaskets arrived today. Still waiting on the manifold to turbo gasket, Ty from Speedfactor was supposed to get with today about it but still hasn't. I called Kayser's and ordered one from them yesterday just in case. That should be here Thursday or Friday.

Got the last manifold nut off. How do I get the manifold off? Do I need to pull the turbo out? It seems to be binding by the manifold stay on the left side. The manifold stay is loose but won't come off because of the stud that the far left manifold nut goes on. Please help!!!

Got the manifold off. Had to pull the front turbo and downpipe. Got the the front precat off the downpipe and am taking that to work now to gut in a vise. Also, am going to get a longer wood bit for the rear one. Got the neon underbody kit installed. Was working last night till 2 in the morn. New manifold arrived yesterday, I'll pick up the manny and the manny to turbo gasket tomorrow. Neon kit looks great, I think. Everything is coming along nicely. Will keep you all posted! Precats are gutted!!!! Thank God that job is done!!! Turbo Timer is now reinstalled. Maybe I can get some help setting the A/F ratios and 02 settings at the upper mid west. R/T Bomber

I got both my precats gutted. Should I still go with a stillen downpipe or should I get a ATR?

At this point, the stillen will offer no more performance than the ATR. The reason I recomended the stillen in the first place was because of the quality, and it saved you from having to buy a test pipe + gutting the front cat. Since that's not the case anymore, might as well save $50 (or whatever) and go with the ATR. It's a direct stock replacement so it will bolt up to your test pipe. All the major 3/S tuner shops sell them. Don't think you can buy an ATR DP directly from the manufacturer. Guess you don't need my drill bit extension then.
