I was at EAA all this past week, and brought along the mini bike for two reasons.
1. It gets my fat @ss around better then a bike.
2. It gives me a chance to get it running well for the GB gathering, as I know UncleBenny is going to do some passes on it.
Well, this winter at some point in time, it decided to fall down. The fall cracked the plastic ferring that goes around the handle bars. Then on the way down to EAA, the ferring broke the rest of the way while being hauled in the back of the Escalade. Bummer.
At EAA, it was a struggle to get it going, but eventually after draining the year old gas out of the carb bowl, I managed to get it up and running.
Then my drunken idiot self decided to take it for a quick spin. I got pulled over by camp security and told never to ride a mini bike without a headlight and taillight ever again.
Frick'n communists.
The tire went completely flat on the way home. boo hiss.
So, the next day I scavanged through the junk mart for a valve stem for my rear tire, and some lights.
After installing both lights, installing the air valve, and inflating the tire, camp security followed me around for the better part of the night, but did not pull me over.
I hate traffic cops.
However, the rear tire would still not hold air overnight. After returning home, I found it was not only leaking from around the bead of the tire, but also from the steel rim itself by using some soapy water.
How lame is that?
So I have JB Welded the ferring back together, and also JB welded the pin hole in the rear tire. When I get home tonight, I will try to re-seal the bead of the tire on the rim.
Anyone have any tricks for that? A good friend of mine told me to smear any old type of oil around the edge of the tire, and that will help it seal.
Well, anyways. If worst comes to worst, I know where there is a back up mini bike I can borrow that is pretty identical to mine. Maybe I should just grab it incase we wreck one and need a back up...
