My car works all gears. It's just a damn work out driving an hour away and shifting. sometimes, i wish i had an auto. but that kills the "fun" of our cars.

Going on how my '92 shifted before rebuilding it, it shifted rougher in freezing temperatures (I actually drove that one in the winter now and then). Even with the expensive syncroshift from GM, it was not a smooth shift. I doubt I would call it a "work out", but it was not smooth.
After rebuilding it, it shifted way better in colder temps. If you just want to "try out" a syncroshift fluid, go to an autozone or whatever and pick up some Pennzoil brand syncroshift. It's like half the price of the stuff you get from the dealer, and is mostly as good. If you like it, change it out for the good stuff this summer. If not, you haven't wasted much money.
I don't recall what the weight rating is on the pennzoil stuff, it isn't labeled on the bottle. It comes in a tall yellow squeeze bottle with a twist tip.

alright, I'll give that a shot. A few dollars is better then a new tranny. lol. Don't want to mess anything up, since I'm a bit tight on money anyway.

One thing I do -- and I got to do this yesterday (thank gawd, brought smile a to my face and I remember why I put with all this sh*t and why I own this car! ) -- is while it's warming up, I move the stick shift lever slowly between gears a few times, up and down through all the all the gears, to be sure all the gears are getting some lube before I move the car adn you're simply not starting out cold. I have no issues with sluggish shifts or hard to shift into any gear when I do this. Give it a shot, it may work for you. SJ

Yeah, I usually do that for a minute or so, slowly. I never give the car a cold start and just drive. Even in the summer. I tend to wait a minute or two. Or smoke a whole cigarette before I even move my car. That's just me though.
I still don't know how I spun a bearing just letting my car sit two weeks in the winter.

I still don't know how I spun a bearing just letting my car sit two weeks in the winter. Ouch. Well they say that most of the wear to the main bearings occurs when you first start a car. I would imagine that the wear would be even greater in freezing temperatures where oil has greater viscosity, especially with a bone-dry crankshaft that's been sitting for a couple of weeks? I don't know, that's my only guess.

I'm not 100% sure myself either. I just started it. It was knocking. Pretty scary though, then turned off the car. I thought to myself, I'm the only one that even touches this car, and last time I drove it, it was perfectly fine. I decided to start it again(i was really curious, lol) revved it and didn't seem like I had a lost in power. I drove it around the block and it got louder as I was picking up speed. Got to 22mph at the most. Parked it and drained the oil. Very little flake in the oil, but nothing serious. So I just said screw it. Spent 700 and did a partial rebuild and so far, it's holding up perfectly fine. I start it about every other day as of last week. But still running 15w40, weather is getting warmer, so I think I'll be fine.
Now I just need to see what I can do about my tranny before I have to spend a few hundred, and miss out on all the meets and all the fun. lol.

Well I'm glad to hear you were able to get out of that spun bearing problem for relatively cheap. I paid more than that just to get my 16G kit fixed up from the idiot that installed for the previous owner.

Seems like there is about 10 of us that is ever active. At least for now. How dead are the meets? Do we get at least 15 people to show up for the WI meets that we have?

Last year was kinda slow with a lot of people having car issues as well as flooding and high gas prices. Prior to that when we've had decent weather we get 15-20. I think we had about 25-30 at our rural cruise 2 years ago.

Well, hopefully we're not that dead this year then. The more the better. I'm guessing that the active people on here are the people that usually shows up? Either way, I'll be showing up to as many as possible. My car is actually running this year.

SO! the scariest sht happened to me today.
Outside is wet, rain everywhere, not hard though. Drove my 3k to auto zone to pick up some spray paint to paint my stockers. On the way back home, about 1.6 miles away only. I heard a loud clunk after running over a big crack(no, not a pot hole, a crack!) I was shocked by it. So I slowed down from 29mph to 20mph(speed limit 25) Cruised slowly home. Got to the driveway, turned in, and the clunking got worse! Oh my gosh, I was going to cry! It was coming from the driver side. Anyway, I drove into my garage. Parked it. Waited for a bit(thinking wtf) got out of the car slowly. I noticed my car is slanted badly from the driver side. So I was thinking, "is my DS k-sport shot?" I closed the door, walked to the DS fender. Apply some pressure with my hands, and "BOOM!" my car just drops! I literately mean, it just drops! I was so shocked by it, my mouth just drops open.
I ran around and got the smallest car jack I have. That sht didn't fit under the damn car!!! So I try the front, it barely went through either! So I slammed that sucker under my car, right by the metal cross under the manifolds. Started jacking as fast as I can. Took a look and NO! My my axle was shot! It tore like a Mother fcuker!!! My K-sport were fine. My rims were fine. Nothing else didn't seem to had broke. Took a closer look and my ball joint(i think that's what its called) popped/tore open also.
So, right when I thought everything was perfectly fine!!! Seriously! I looked over the car two weeks ago, over and under! Now this BS has to happen. I feel so screw. Luckily, I have a warranty for the ball joint. But it's 125 for the axle. Which I'm too poor to afford at the moment. The oil pan seems to be perfectly fine! I'm hoping that it is. It was touching the ground when I was jacking up the car. I swear my car is cursed!
Sorry for the long rant! but I just need to get it out.

is your car a 2nd gen? I might have an axle for you. It's from an auto tranny car, but I think one axle is the same as the manual and one is different. so if you want to research and find out, you can have the axle IF you come take it off the car.

Dude that is utter crap. Gotta get that fixed before any major meets. You should be able to pick up a used axle for less than 125.
