Thanks for the tips. It worked out. Scared the hell out the kids (which I think was a good thing) with the pan-handlers, derelicts, and abandoned buildings. Hell of way to do business. You think that'd at least clean
that portion of Cicero up...
Even the parking garage seemed surreal. Not what I'd call a normal crowd for them.
And the construction -- WTF? My Lord, last time I was down that way I was nursing it home from the NG. If you haven't been, you're in for a treat.
Down to two lanes in either direction until like O'Hare, it appears they are adding a single lane express lane. One breakdown, and then an accident, and we were backed up for miles. It all starts right the border, but gets worse right after the 41/294 split. Be ready if you're heading to NG 08. It looks two years away from completion as they have to widen all the bridges.
They are doing both sides at the same time, in typical Chicago fashion. Why they have to do the whole thing -- every year -- is beyond me (actually it's not if you know anything about Chicago politics and how these things get done down there -- it is a career job, don'tyaknow).
The trucks make it hard to see anything, so watch out -- we almost missed a much needed Oasis for petrol.
Other than that, we flew on the way home, which was surprising for on the way down, the northbound side was backed up from the 41/894 split back
beyond the first toll -- we were worried. We were almost there, only to find 894 at a dead stop just after 27th street, so we took that up to St. Luke's and back over on Oklahoma.
Anyway, it was a blur of a day and praise God I have an iPass -- I highly recommend this to anyone that
ever goes that way.
I'd be remiss if I didn't add Happy Easter everyone. I hope you and your families have a great day. I miss the hell out of mine on Holiday's like this, but that's the price we pay I guess.
Best,
SJ
