The Upper Midwest Gathering started way back in 2000. It was an idea based on finding a place half way between the Twin Cities and Chicago. Wisconsin Dells was the perfect location because it was almost exactly the half way point. There were other good reasons to use Wisconsin Dells. The Dells is a huge tourist area in the summer. It boasts some of the best water parks in the country. The Dells also has more hotel rooms then permanent residents, so it

Hey everyone, So far my sign-up numbers for the Upper Midwest Gathering are a little lower than what I expected at this point in the game. I made the same post above on 3SI in the "General" section. What I'm hoping is we can keep the thread on 3SI going for awhile. The thread is at: http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=199163So go out to that thread a few times in the next couple of weeks. If the thread is falling off the first page on 3SI, post a little reply about what you like about the UMG, or how excited you are about it. Lets keep the Upper Midwest Gathering steaming along. Thanks, Curt

Think I found the UMG doing a google search at the library. Heh, I remember showing up late to the auto show, then returning to my car to find you guys had already left... Raced over to the next meeting spot (don't remember the name, but it wasn't supposed to be Pizza Pub) only to find you weren't there either. So I went cruisen around trying to find you guys again and luckily found you heading down the main drag. Then I had to leave after the pub because I was out of $$... Can't wait for this year.

Thats funny Greg(sp? maybe Gregg, sorry)
I did the same thing almost.. Bought my 92 RT and was looking on yahoo and came up with info on the gathering from 3si I think.. Had no clue what that was all about. Didnt even know there was a 3si.org so I talked to Curt and decided it would be fun..
Signed up for 3si a few months after the event, definetly a good time. Ryan

I remember my first trek to the UMG in 2001. Prior to this event, I don't think I ever met anyone else with a 3/S. I had no idea what to expect. I showed up with my girlfriend and she fell in love with Derek's blue 95TT, haha. Had to take pictures of her sitting in the car too. Funny.
The humbling thing was, I thought my car was a pretty sweet ride before going up there. But, after seeing all the cars (especially Gene's, Curt's, Craig Hoffman's (whatever happened to him?), Tom Thompson's, and SJ's), I kinda thought to myself, "damn... my car really needs some serious work", haha.
The coolest thing about the UMG was how friendly everyone was, considering I knew NO ONE. I kept in touch with SJ over the next few years since he lived fairly close to me, and who woulda guessed, but after enough emailing back and forth, and a few phone calls over the years, we both decided to get the Wisconsin chapter rolling. So, good things come to those who attend the UMG - hint hint.
This year, with 3SX Performance and Import Power Online tossing in some kick-ass door prizes, there's even more reason to go! Kudos to them!
Top 10 Things I look forward to this May at the UMG: 1. Spending time oogle'ing Gene Helms' and Francis Morice's cars... 2. Hanging out with old friends I haven't seen in awhile 3. Spending time oogle'ing Gene Helms' and Francis Morice's cars... 4. Automation car show 5. Spending time oogle'ing Gene Helms' and Francis Morice's cars... 6. Having Levi take some professional photos of my car 7. Spending time oogle'ing Gene Helms' and Francis Morice's cars... 8. Kicking ass on Go-karts 9. Spending time oogle'ing Gene Helms' and Francis Morice's cars... 10. Ducks tour (yea yea, but i haven't gone on this yet)

That green one on autotrader is sure looking tempting. It's my hopes to get my car's body touched up by the UMG, but I don't think I can foot the bill to get it done in time. Definately by the end of summer though!

I don't think Francis is going to be at the UMG this year, but I know Gene will be there for sure. Francis has a big trip planned the weekend before, and he thinks that will be too much travelling. The good news is, he is going to baby sit my dogs that weekend. later, Curt

So Mitsu and Bishi aren't coming? Bummer. We need UMG mascots and they woulda been perfect. Have to think of an alternative.
Francis not coming? Hmm... I'll have to plan for 4 more hours of staring at Gene's car instead then to make up the difference.

LOL... Yeah, the dogs are staying home. Too much running around for them. I think Francis is turning into a Gamer. He is building up one of those see through PCs with the neon lights. He is geeking out on us. If your displeased with Francis not coming to the UMG, please send e-mails to francis.morice@retek.comBadgering him is completly acceptable. later, Curt
