Well i will be buying a transmission tomorrow from a board member (thank you very much by the way). Anyways i was curious as to if anyone was interested in helping me drop and reinstall the tranny and make like $100. I was originally going to have 440 4x4 do this for me along with a 120 k service, but i would so much rather not have to tow it there and just drive it in. That would save a lot of pain and money as well. i still plan doing the 120k with Jeff. but have to wait for the ES to sell. if anyone wants to help a fellow board member, please let me know. ive dropped a N/A 5speed, but never an AWD. Im intimidated by the reinstallation process. let me know my numer is 2629491158 if you want to give me a call.

Make $100 installing a tranny? I found a guy here that's all he does, drop and install tranny's, $150 bucks, that's the cheapest I've found. The next cheapest is a guy who works cheap but doesn't do it very often, $250. I had my first tranny put in at the dealer, it's about a 4 hour job roughly at the dealer but billed book price at 6 hours for $70/hr. . . . . $420 and that was for an auto SL. My VR4 transmission purchased and installed at the dealership ended up being about $5,500 installed and they were 1 of 3 shops in town that would even touch it. The point. I'm no mechanic. Tranny's in these cars are a whore. I'm not sure which statement the point is but you'll get no sympathy from me, I'm on my 7th transmission on two cars. Bret

if anyone wants does decide to help, i will throw in the old transmission and transfer case for free! im sure there are some great parts left in it and im pretty sure the transfer case is in decent working condition. Even broken trannys have a good resale value. let me know! I know i can drop it, im more worried about installing.

Bret the only problem with those guys is that i want to avoid having to tow the car anywhere.
