Has any of the southeast WI w3si members considered weekly or monthly get together/car discussion meetings? This may have been tried in the past and not worked because of lack of interest.
The local EVO club has get togethers at BW III's in New Berlin every Wed. night and very often are attended by Mr. Renner of Renner Mitsubishi. I'm just throwing it out there because it's a great way for w3si members to meet in person and discuss our cars, whatever and maybe create more interest in them in warm weather when a bunch them show up places together.
A good friends son is in the evo club and often asks me to attend to see the interest that these get togethers create. I may check one out when time permits.
Just posting it to see if there is some interest.

Just posting it to see if there is some interest. Take II It was rerefreshed mid-reply... ANYWAY, we try and do something significant 1x a month. Many of us have a hard time just doing that because we are so spread out. We target the show in August, and we've tried to make friends with the Evo crowd -- we want to and would like to -- but those of us that run at Road America, well... YES, let's do it, local guys -- but we are state-wide, and hell, even cross borders now -- it's a matter of resources. I mean, we did a Brewer's game one year -- do it again? Join these guys? Whatever is best for the club -- SJ

I'm up for it! Although my car probably won't be running until the end of April...

I wasn't suggesting we combine with the evo group - just bringing up an example of what we could do. It is a good idea though and meeting with them occaisionally isn't a bad thing in my mind.
I was thinking of attending one of there meetings to see what it's about. They were inviting me because I had an interest in an evo for sale out of state that my friend's son brought to my attention as a great deal. The evo just doesn't appeal to me the way the 3000gt/stealth does.(might be an age thing) Their attendance ranges from a couple of guys in their 50's to a 17 year old that attend regularly. So it seems to cross the age barrier without a problem.
There are four turbo 3000gt's within a few miles of my house and I have not met the owners or seen the cars close up. This tells me there must be quite a few in this area.
If there's an interest - post a reply.

Why don't you then, be our scout, and report back your findings. I'm okay with that if you are. demonscoach wrote: The evo just doesn't appeal to me the way the 3000gt/stealth does.(might be an age thing) It's style thing for me -- no comparison IMHO. If there's an interest - post a reply. I think you'll find some folks just don't get it, or don't want to get it. I pass out flyers and business cards and get nothing. Honk, wave -- nothing. Others are excited and interested. It's a werid thing to me, but hey, it's me. So don't be surprised if you get a cold shoulder, it's happened to me many times. And yes, I see many around here as well. Keep up the good work Scott. Best, SJ

I've had the same experience. Some 3/S owners just have the car to have a car. Its hard to make an enthusiasts out of an owner. All you can do is try and get them the info about the club and see what they do with it. later, Curt

I think some of them are listed members but I haven't been to any w3si functions to meet them. I am relatively new to w3si. I know one for sure is a member, an extremely nice looking red fwd turbo conversion with a 99 front end. SJ told me he was a member and I've seen the car driving in my neighborhood a few times.
Anyhow, I would think owners within a 20-25 miles radius would be interested and it wouldn't have to be at the same location every time or on a strict schedule. The evo club does it because BWIII's gave them space for a weekly meeting and i'm sure they mostly eat there. Wednesdays are probably not their busiest night.

What's the name of that drive-in on Arcadian there by the bar and that car wash? It's open year round so it's open right now. Johnny H -- don't you drive by this place every day? Little help here... John's Root beer. They have a small car show there every third thursday in summer. Run by a Pontiac club. I take my vette there and my son took his vr4 there for the show once. There only drawback is not a lot of space if they are busy.

Little help here... do you mean John's Root Beer stand? They have good Root Beer and GREAT cheese fries! I have often thought that would be a cool place to hangout with the cars, lots of traffic goes thru there

I live near Minooka park. Off Guthrie and Lawnsdale, not far from Sunset and 59.
The land where the picnic tables are on at John's Root Beer (Grass area) belongs to the company I work for.

BW3's has beer, I'm guessing the root beer stand does not. A bi-weekly thing to meet up at a bar or bar/grill somewhere and socialize is something I would be interested in. I wouldn't go out of my way to attend something regularly at a root beer stand, though. My 2 cents.

As convenient as John's RB is for me I would tend to agree with "mrink". once a month or a few times a summer at the root beer stand would be great but more than that could get old.
A sports bar or similar we could watch racing or sports events on a big screen and we'll be good in bad weather and possibly carry it over into the miserable winter months. Meeting in the winter may interest people to work on their cars in the cold months.
I'm good for both. If we start a list of interested people and there is enough interest we can set up a date and place. Maybe the rootbeer stand first and go from there? With the roadracing in two weeks would it be better after or would a get together spur some interest in going up to check out the event?
