At the Green Bay gathering I remember someone telling me about selling a white Stealth to a guy in Norway Michigan for his son. Well there was an accident over the weekend and the car was totaled and a young girl killed. The girl was in the backseat and not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. What a sad situation plus the kid had been drinking. Just thought the person who sold the car would like the know the car is no longer around. Here is a link to the article http://www.ironmountaindailynews.com/st ... cleID=3943

Hey guys , it was my car. I got the bad news later tonight . I t was pretty awfull to hear about the girl dying . Here is what I have been told, He was intoxicated, a high blood alcohol. He was traveling at a high rate of speed. Swerved to miss 2 deer and started to go into 360 spins 5-6 times from what it sounds like. It then went off the road and piled it in to a tree. The car is totalled. The pic's aren't pretty. Sad that a such a great car had to come to such an ugly end. It makes me sick to think that somebody died out of all of this. Alcohol and driving let alone speed NEVER a good mix. This kid is looking at some long Jail time. Tim

Ya Tim I thought it was your car you told me about. Thanks for you info. I guess the rest of the story is that a SBC Ameritech van was in the area and witnessed the accident and he said there were no deer around. Not good if the kid said there were deer and witness says he didn't see any. When the kid got out of the car he called his friends at the camp from his cell phone. They all piled in their cars and drove from the camp to the scene of the accident. The police were already there so every kid that drove to the scene was checked for alcohol and was also given a drunk driving ticket. So the driver is in a lot of trouble and all his friends he called got drunk driving tickets and witnessed their friend dead in the woods. The camp they were was pretty well known for parties in the past. I wonder what will happen to the adults who supplied the beer for the party and the owner of the camp? I'm sure there are going to be in a lot of people in trouble. Its just a sad situation all the way around.

This adds a little demention to it . I am just getting bits and pieces. Sounds like Cody had a hard time explaining why he lost control. He thought it might have been a deer but wasn't clear. Now from what I was hearing it sounds like he might have been driving to fast and just lost control. What were these kids thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then to have them all get nailed for drinking and driving.! Sad, sad....... Hey Bunk , please could you keep me informed if you find out any more details..... Thanks Tim

No problem Tim I will keep you posted on whatever happens. The party was in Norway, Cody was from Norway and on Saturday afternoon the Norway High School football team won their second playoff game to make it to the quarterfinals. So that is pretty much why there was a party. Now I wonder how many kids got in trouble were on the football team? The team is good enough to get this far in the playoffs and then you could loose a lot of kids because of drunk driving tickets.
I just feel so sorry for the parents. I'm sure if Cody wishes it was just a bad dream. He will remember it for the rest of his life. Super sad situation.

I will say this for Cody. He loved the car. He was excited from the day he got it . He did some of his own mods on it right away. It is just upsetting for me to see so much gone to the wind. The girl's life , Cody's life...he will look back at this every day most likely for the rest of his life. To feel like you've got the world , then to like loose it all. What a shame . I feel awful for the families. A tragedy that really never had to happen. Tim

Was it a VR4? AWD and to still lose control, must have been just hauling. Damn, what a terrible story. It really takes me back to when I was that age and stupid as all get-out. Driving terrible excessive speeds 120+ down the highway, never drinking but still terribly unsafe. If a deer did jump out myself or passenger could easily be killed. As a parent it just reminds me that you have to continually reinforce responsible behavior hoping that one fraction of it sinks in. You hear all the time about kids losing their license and totaling their cars from doing stupid shit, but that all washes away with a little time, being responsible for someone elses death though. . . . .I don't know if I could ever look myself in the mirror again.

It doesn't even take speed to kill just one mistake. My daughter watch one of her best friends get killed right in front of her. There were two girls in the car in front of her(both buddies of her) and the driver turned left in front of a suv and it was over in a blink of an eye.One dead the other 1 month in the hospital. I do know parents of both, not a nice funeral. Small world isn't.

I hit a tree with my TT. AWD doesn't help if you don't know what to do with it. Small patch of black ice on a corner with an incline. (coming back form a christmas party. merry chirstmas to me... ) I was only going about 35-40 when I started my spin. my back end started to come around, and I hit the brakes, instead of pointing the front tires where I wanted to go, and staying a bit on the gas. I only hit the tree at about 10 mph, sideways, though... and the only reason it was about 10 mph is because I fell off the shoulder of the road. I could have just as easily killed myself in my ford probe as I could have with my stealth, but I am glad that I had my ford probe first, as it did not have as much power. I feel bad for the kid... one bad choice one time, and the rest of his life to regret it...

It was a 1991 Dodge Stealth Es . I Sold it to him early this spring. It had a little over 100k on it. I had the car since 1998. It took me a long time to get that car to where it was . Not a lot of mods but a great car to drive. yet it would spin the wheels with the best of them. The car was clean. New rims ect.
It has been stated Cody crested a steep hill he admited to going fast enough to get air. He thinks that possibly he was doing close to 75 when he touched back down....... That's when the car did the "dance" so as to speak. It was all over the road. 360's and side to side. I can see it .. If you look at the picture that's in the link in the first posting........ The car is absent of rims and rotors ( they were new) and I can't see any capliers they were painted red. I bet after the shake and shimmy that went on he blew the struts out and things flew. It wouldn't surprise me if the car was on it's belly.........
Brett H. is on the money, You work at all the time pounding into your kids heads that reponsibility is important but you can only hope that even a fraction will stick .... If it does you may save their buts a few times But like mentioned above, There are those situations that are totaly unseen but can happen even on a good day.
Tim
