Well, after a month of looking, I have finally found a job in my field (Computer Science) And I will be starting in Rochester, MN on March 20th. I have allready started figuring out my expenses for the year and it seems I may just have about 15K sitting around after everything else is paid for. And I'm looking to spend that on my 92vr4 What do you guys/gals usually spend on your cars in relation to your salary? % wise? Jason

Less than 5% after mortgage, car payment, insurance, student loans, utilities, home remodeling, vacations, a million other little expenses, entertainment, etc, etc, etc.

I spend probably less than 10% on my car. Unless you count gatherings, insurance, and tickets. Then its closer to 50%.

I don't know and don't want to think about it. Basically anything that doesn't go to my general expenses (school, gas, insurance, beer, credit card) goes to my car.

I spend about 90% of my money on my car during the summers. I think I've spent more than all but a select few wisconsinites on my stupid non-moving piece of junk. *cough cough*

I am with ^ on this. I spent more in the last year on crap for my car than I did on buying the car. I think it averages out to like 50% of my income in the last year.

Congrats on the new job! Who are you working for up there? You realize you'll have to commute from WI to work everyday, can't give up another member.
Oh yeah, I spend a little less than 5% on my cars per year. This year will be a little higher considering the things the red car needs and a few things that I want. Probably will be about 10% not counting insurance or any payments.
I don't really budget any money for them since it's pretty hard to plan for two transmission failures, and a timing belt slipping all in a 3 month time frame. They get what they need anyhow.

I will actually be working for a company here in WI that has dealings with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I would be there as a consultant. I am actually still in WI right now. I am working at the office here until things are nailed down in Rochester. Still getting paid though Actually, I could commute if I want to, I havn't decided for sure on that yet. If I did commute I would be on the clock for the trip to the business, but not back. Also I would be paid 44 cents per mile. I would be commuting from La Crosse to Rochester (about 120 round trip), so that would be another 50 bucks a day minus 10 dollars gas (40 MPG Saturn SL). Jason

Sounds like a pretty nice deal if you decide to commute. I imagine that would save you some cash on rent too?
