Hello everybody, My name is Will Strabel I live in Hayward, WI (very small town) I am 15 3/4 years old. Yes I know My dad bought me my car (I want to pay him back but some how dishwashers dont' make enough money ) but I told him that I will pay insurance and gas. my B-day is in late september. My nickname is Woody. Well I would like to meet some of you guys on the forum here in person. I am not a 16 year old kid that runs his mouth off at all and I'm not disrespectful. Becuase first of all umm. if you guys have been looking at most of my posts I own a Stealth Base model So that's reason #1 and 2nd I still don't have my license. My mechanical skills are up to an extent i can do basic things. I can't bleed brakes, I can't change a cylinder head, I can change the oil, I have done most basic things like figuring out how and what some stuff does, I think my biggest mechanical thing i would do alone on my car is change the valve cover gaskets but I am first going to get a carbon fiber hood for it sense I found out between the few dents and surface prep and painting it would be cheaper to just buy a new hood so i am purchasing a carbon fiber hood. My car is limited to a few mods i am told. I am admitting too all of this becuase I am not a dumb@$$ that runs his mouth on a load crap like most kids' my age do. Well I am getting my lisense October 7th. I plan on trying to atleast make it too the 3KGT/S gathering in WI dells. hear that it's great. I have relatives in baraboo so that will be a for sure thing that i will do. I bought my car off of E-bay earlier this year and I got a few surprises: I took it to get quoted on painting the hood and rear fender on the passenger side becuase it's spiderwebbing on the paint and the hood is very bad the paint is peeling off. It turns out the whole car is going to have the paint peel off according to the extremely bad surface prep that the prior owners took it too. They said it was Viper Red (i doubt it) and it's still glossy and all but it's bad surface prep is showing through I am told from the sun. It also has nice rims and an aftermarket spoiler on it (not a metal wing just a molded almost hoop spoiler but big enough to not block your vision through the rear view mirror. It is a 1991 5-spd and i had to replace the transmission also. so total i have about $6,000 in it and if i knew that I might of instead looking more at an R/T TT but i hear the ones with over 100,000 miles the engine is about shot becuase of all the pressure on it from the turbos. I hear that the SOHC run the longest not too sure on that though. Note i'm saying I hear all of this and some i belive and some i don't but i figured you guys here are the experts. I would really like to get to know some more people with 3/S but me being in Hayward is a little far away. I am located about 50 miles north of Rice Lake (biggest city located around me) just too let u know where i am located. I don't know how to post pictures on the forum otherwise I would. also i have dial up so it's extremely slow . Well I hope I'm not too much trouble on here asking questions. I plan on owning a R/T TT someday... yeah Someday.... lol But thank you everybody. Hope to get to know all of you. P.S. Add me too your MSN contacts list. If you have MSN messenger.

hey Curt, are you trying to steal our members again? J/k
Woody, I've been up to Hayward a few times, real nice up there.
Heck, I've been contemplating making a trip up to washburn county sometime this fall. I'll let you know if I'm coming up.
Keep the shiney side up, and the rubber side down. A

I get up to Rhinelander every once and a while. I you want to know more about cars take an autoshop calss at school. Check out a few books on cars/motors stay away from the internet, way to much bad info buried in the useful stuff. If you just starting out it is hard to tell what will really work and what won't with out any background.

Alright thanks ver fer I have a few books one is hotrods horsepower handbook how you make/free up horsepower. But it describes it up to an extent. And how to rebuild your small block chevy. lol. I've read some of that but then again i don't have a 350 in my stealth. I do know how some stuff works like turbos, I know some internals of an engine like the rings, pistons and pretty much basic things. I know there's no crankshaft pump or add-a-piston kit. lol I want to learn about engines and cars. Name a few books to get me off on the right foot. This is my first place to go for any general questions for my stealth. and so far i have had gotten most of them answered. Thanks

welcome to the 3si family. Don't worry, if you keep your car long enough you will know how to fix EVERYTHING.

I think the car you chose is a great one for a 16 year old, and a starter 3/S enthusiast. If I would have had my vr4 at age 16 I think I would have killed myself. I drove a nonturbo automatic for about 3 years just to learn about the cars and the 3/s crowd, and I really enjoyed that path. Hope you enjoy your car and look forward to meeting you at some future gatherings

My 1st car was also a base model. It had just under 40K on it when I got it, and I sold it with about 65K. I think it made me one of the most popular kids in high school. You name it, it was done to the car. Keyed, gum in the key hole, Mt Dew poured on the windows, cigarettes tossed thru the sunroof... Insurance was very expensive. The car was great though. All I ever did was change the oil and put gas in it. There was a random electrical problem with the AC, but it turned out to be a faulty relay. Other than that, I had aboslutely no problems with it. ...and I had my fun with it too just like all kids that age. Brett is right. You definately picked the right car to start with. Just a nice car without all the work that comes with owning one. You really are lucky your parents were able to help you with such a deal. Don't disappoint them.
