I'm not sure if any of you know this, but the national gathering is in trouble. I'm not even sure if any of you care, but I would like to go to one someday, and I know there are a lot of people who work their asses off so that we as a community can have a national gathering. If the national gathering doesn't break even this year, there won't be another one. End of story. There are a bunch of people on 3si donating money to keep the NG going. A lot of those people arn't even attending this year. I know that a lot of you don't know me, but i've met a shit ton of great people both here and on 3si. All because of my slow car that doesn't even run. I'm going to donate some money. I was hoping some of you could do the same. I know that economic times are tough. My mom just lost her job at harley davidson, and I work at a grocery store making little more than minimum wage. I'm sending 20 dollars. I know there are people here that could do the same. Im not asking you to give your life savings, just a couple of bucks. Thanks for your time. Scott Thread on 3si: http://www.3si.org/forum/f1/lets-get-to ... ng-459922/

Scott Thread on 3si: http://www.3si.org/forum/f1/lets-get-to ... ng-459922/F 3si right in the god d*mn goat @ss. The vast majority of the people posting on that site know nothing, or are to busy sucking each other off to have an intelligent conversation about cars. If you tell them how something works, they argue with you because: A. "That's the way we have always done it." -or- B. "You're doing it wrong because this other guy that posts way more then you and has far more e-friends said so... even though he doesn't have a car." I've been to one national gathering. One. If it wasn't for the w3si crew that I hung out with it would have been the single greatest waste of gas in my entire worthless life. I wonder if we have anyone that can hack the online bank account and steal the money to ensure there are no more "NG's."

Thanks for bringing this to our attention (those of us that rarely go on 3si). I hope that we can keep it alive; I know I've had the time of my life at the NG every year.

Their are a lot of people that have enjoyed the event and hope to do so in the future. I just don't see why you'd want to do something like that to ruin it for everyone else.

I wonder if we have anyone that can hack the online bank account and steal the money to ensure there are no more "NG's." I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on that one, peter. Disliking the manner in which the site is run, or having issues with members on said site is not reason to trash talk a fun event. Those of us that have attended the NG's each year have always had a great time. Most of us never even visit 3SI anymore, but we still enjoy the event. By all means, sling poo all day long at the site and its flaws if you feel the need. The event is just a chance to get away for a week, drink lots of beer, check out chix, and I believe there are sometimes cars there too. I can think of no better way to spend some of my time and money. (note this does not include prostitution, since it is not technically legal here)

I just don't see why you'd want to do something like that to ruin it for everyone else. Yes, I meant that 100% literally. I am going to find someone to hack into a bank account. /facepalm I very well believe that there are alot of people that enjoyed the event. I'm sure there are also alot of people that hated the event. I just happen to be one of those. As far as why, well, let's see. We stayed at a shit hotel. Roaches, brown water, no A/C, and if you turned the lights on the telephone didn't work. I had to lock up my trailer every night for fear of someone ripping off whatever they could, and then spend the night wondering if my car was going to be vandalized, or hit by druken retards. That was the year someone decided to doenuts in the feild behind the hotel, and get shit all over, as I recall. It was run more like a frat party then an actual gathering of car enthusiasts. But I believe I can see why it is done that way. And instead of the people that put the show on trying to do anything about it, they instead made certain that we went back to the same hotel the next year because everyone wanted to be just as unruly. Have fun with your gathering. I really don't give two shits and a fuck whether or not it happens. Rest assured, if anything goes down, it wasn't me, because I don't care. I'm just expressing my opinion on a forum. That's what we do around here. I'm sorry you don't have mod rights, and can't just delete posts like you would on 3si.

So I posted my opinion. feel free to disagree. That's what I did. If it makes me a bad person, well, so be it. It's not just based on the site. I actually didn't have the best time there. All of you know that I call them as I see them. It may be a character flaw I have, but I can't just stop being me. We could always take a trip to amsterdam instead... It is legal there...

lulz Hypothetical question. If we did go to amsterdam, would fat girls cost extra because you pay by the pound, or less because you pay by the pound?

I did not really think you wanted to hack the bank account but that post expressed a lot of hate to the event and I wanted to get to the source of the issue. A a member of the committee for the event I'll say I agree with everything you had issues with about the 05 and 06 event. From 04-06 I was on the committee but I really had no control. My main job was the website. In 07 My Wife, Peggy(from CO), Christy (from GA) ,Josh Anker and I took over. We knew the frat party atmosphere had to go. Ask anyone that went to the 07 or the 08 events and I think you'll find that it is now a very different (and hopefully enjoyable) event. The hotels and the areas they are in are safe. Frat party behavior is not tolerated. Its a family car event and that is how we expect people to behave. You might want to consider giving the event another chance.

I had fun at the car show when it was in MI, but only because it was close and I got sloppy drunk and tried to offend the WI bunch as much as possible. I would never drive 8 hours to go to it though.
I do find it ironic that it was moved south and the southern groups barely bother to show up.
I think it's becoming obvious that the MI, WI, MN, and IL groups and thereabouts are some of the more active groups. The UMG is proof of this and is growing every year. If the races are somehow worked into the UMG it would probably easily become the new NG.
I certainly don't see why people are donating money to save the NG, that is very counter-productive. Donating money to a cause that is clearly on the decline is like putting a band-aid on a gun shot wound.
The people have spoken, good riddance NG. When the people are ready for another NG forum in a location and format that will maximize attendance, it will happen.

You might want to consider giving the event another chance. I'll vouch for that. I went last year. While I didn't have the best time, it was not the fault of the committee (I hardly knew anyone so it was kinda just me and my gf the entire time). It's also a really long drive, so I won't be going again this year to repeat the same thing. There are plenty of people drinking and having a good time but without the mayhem that apparently occurred in previous years. The hotel is nice, no doubt. It did get a little shady once you ventured more than a couple miles from the hotel though. I personally did not really like Memphis as a city, but to each his own. I hear next year the location will change and hopefully I'll be able to make it.
