So, I've been dating my girlfriend for a fair amount of time. She's now hunting for a ring.

which is really here nor there. It just means that if I want to get a new girl, I will have to find a really good hiding spot for the body.

So, anyways, the question comes up because when I started dating my girl, I had car parts on the kitchen counter. My cars were in the garage. I had mostly beer in my refrigerator. In short, life was good.

Now I have food in the fridge, my walls a painted and have things hung on them, and car parts are strictly forbidden from kitchen/living room/bedroom areas.

Oh, and I only have room for one car in the garage, and the rest is filled with midget toys.

Which, again, I can handle.

BUT!

I recently fell into an opportunity to bring home a 1963 numbers matching 427 split window corvette.

It's in REALLY rough shape, but the restoration would not be on my dime, just in my garage and using my elbow grease.

Well, when I came home, and discussed it with my girlfriend, she was less than impressed.

She actually told me that I had enough cars. I mean, who the f*ck says that, anyways? enough cars. pfft.

She said that her stupid saturn needs a place to park, and needs to be fixed, and yada yada yada.

Oh, and then she tossed the "your stealth doesn't even run." comment out. Which I promplty took care of. The car now runs. It's in Minnesota, getting tuned on the dyno. Just in time for winter. Go me.

So anyways, you guys have met Lisa. You've met me.

We get along pretty well, but what's more rare here? A woman that you can put up with from day to day, or a 1963 numbers matching 427 split window 'vette?

That's rough. The enough cars comment means she just doesn't understand and likely never will, but she does have nice boobs.

I mean that vette is not just another car. The ring thing is just scary, at least for me. But finding one that at least somewhat enjoys cars is hard to find.

It is virtually impossible to find an attractive woman who enjoys / accepts cars on a long-term basis. I've never met her or you, so just speaking in general terms. You need to make her feel that she is number 1, so she leaves you alone about it. Fix the stupid Saturn and act like you care. Then get the Vette.

intresting sidenote. the cat now comes to you when you call it by name, and now goes to the door when people come to the house. in another 6 months, I'll have it barking at people. So at this point it's more of a REALLY ugly dog that poops in a box.

Females typically have a difficult time understanding anything not related to cooking or cleaning, so I can see where her confusion comes from. but, as was noted, she has pretty fantastic chesticles.

finding one that enjoys cars just depends on how rich you are. if you drive a ferrari 430, every girl you meet is intrested in the same things you are. they are funny like that.



Sound advice... but then what happens when a few years down the line, when she wants to drive it, and claims to know how to drive stick?

For what its worth I had a 93 vr-4 and 91 stealth tt with a bad head and married oct 13 07 and this past tuesday found another 91 stealth tt with a bad tranny and shes all for me getting it. Then through in the to cjs that need work, I do know that women and cars can coexist

So what does she bring to the party? Is she working and paying her share of the bills? or is it just you paying for everything for her and the midget? If it's just you right now then a ring is not going to change a thing. Your the "money god" of the relationship and they are just going to what more of your cash.

If she's working an pulling her weight on the $$ then thats a bit different. But anyway your not married, its your cash and you can do what you want with it.

When I was single I had the opportunity to buy a mint 57 Thunderbird. I didn't buy and have kicked myself for years not buying it. If its a once in lifetime find then buy the vette and if she can't handle it then its time for walking papers. Just my 2 cents.
