What's up and welcome to the forum. You can also check up 3si.org. We're not really that active on here, but not dead either. lol.
Anyway, the Upper Midwest Gathering is coming up, you are more then welcome to come and see more 3S enthusiasts/owners. And have a fun weekend.
If you don't mind, can you post up some pictures of your 3k.

Hi Alex: Welcome on board. Several of us gather monthly at the Hooter's in Brookfield. Perhaps you could come join us there, while we wait for the weather to improve and the gatherings and events to start. You can find a post all about it under News and Events: http://www.w3si.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3667Our next "gathering" of the minds is on Saturday 03.29 and starts at 5pm. Best, SJ

Welcome to the club. The car looks pretty good. Agree on the rims, but at least you agree they're ugly Those SOHCs might be a little weaker, but boy do they last a long time. They can log some major miles.

First, welcome. I believe you run into fitment issues running 19s, but I could be wrong. 17s even look good if you lower it. Don't put coilovers on it to lower it. You can get a set of Tein or Eibach lowering springs for ~$200. It sounds like you're not in it to race it, so just get lowering springs. Coilovers will all but ruin the ride and provide a performance upgrade you won't ever use, and they run over $1000. My $.02, some of the more experienced guys could very well tell me I'm wrong, in which case I'll flame them and deny being wrong until I die. OK not really...

Oddly enough, I bought my first 3s from a 60-something in Oak Creek.

Well, any beaten car is problematic.
There has been a few people with SOHCs that tried to kill them and couldn't. DOHCs will spin bearings while waiting for fries at McDonalds.

Sometimes I wish I had a sohc. I wouldn't feel bad about beating the shit out of it and would drive it during winter.
