I just bought one of these for toting around to school and tuning the MAP ECU with. I have to say, I am VERY impressed. This thing is small and light like I wanted yet still powerful enough to do anything I want. I paid a little less than $1400 all said and done for this travel companion and I am definately pleased with the outcome. I just got done not too long ago buidling the gaming machine home PC, so now I'm covered all around.
Specs: 2.0 Ghz pentium M (dothian core) 1280 MB pc2700 RAM (256 from dell, 1GB kingston stick I threw in) DVD RW (dual layer) XP Pro intel pro wireless a/b/g 8-cell extended battery (5 hour life before I undervolt it!) 60GB 5400 rpm HD
I expect to get another 15-30 minutes battery life after I undervolt the cpu.
It weighs around 4.5 lbs wth the extended battery.
If you're looking for an affordable thin and light to ultraportable range laptop with an optical drive....this is worth every penny!

muhahha I just found out I get a student discount too...
time to call and play the "dell game"
Dimensions are:
Depth 8.5 in
Height 1.5 in
Weight 4.2 lbs
Width 11.7 in
Mine weighs a bit more because I have the extended life battery.
I am seriously in love with this thing already....

Its one of the smallest full use laptops you can buy. I looked into the 600m last summer before deciding not to work again and having no funds... hahaha. Greg ~ I have you beat. PIII 866mhz.

Very nice! My roommate just picked up a 600m, and I'm in love with it. It's got the 14.1" screen, which is the only reason I'd want it over the 700m. I am considering a 700m next fall to replace my old HP Omnibook though (6000 series, P3 600MHz. Yea baby! )

the 700m is lighter than the 600m, thats why I went this route. This thing is perfect for what I wanted it for. Dell just gave me $100 of for calling and telling them about the minor problems I have with it too.
That makes the total cost less than $1300 kids!
