My friend, You have a job you love, met a young lady, and are making a decent living. Don't get down on the decision. Get to high ground, be safe, and this temporary blip on the screen will pass. You'll have plenty of work once the water drains off. Drink some beer, spend time with Johanna (sp?), and enjoy a few days off. Let the boss stress about the shop and expense.

At 11:30 this morning we all sat at my place and helplessly watched the flood waters creep into the garage. I have pics on my cell phone. Peek isn't expected until 2:00am this morning so it will only contiune to rise above the roof of the shop.
We decided to hit up the bars this morning (they're thowing great deals on beers since they're about a block away from going under water). I'm completely trashed right now.
There was nothing more I could do to get more cars/tools out. Hans was in at 7:30 and our escape route was flooded to knee high. He did all the could to get engines and trannies as high off the ground as possible.
Flood waters are at about 40ft. It's dark now so I can't see the shop any more, but no doubt this flood is worse than the last one. We're going to have a hell of a mess to clean up.
FUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greg, Any updates on the flood? Hopefully the shop didn't get flooded too bad. If it did I'm sure it will be big mess to clean up. What is the exact town that the shop is in. I think were all watching the news trying to figure out exactly where you are but are happy knowing that your safe and got as many cars out of the shop as possible.
Kyle

Crap I can't view the link. How bad is the shop? How deep did the water get? Now the fun begins, cleaning up all the mud and junk

Things aren't getting any better. The rivers have almost completely stopped flowing which means the water isn't going anywhere. It was supposed to start recieding, but now it's starting to rain again which means it will continue to rise even further.

Down water down!!! Hopefully the rivers are finally coming down by now. What does the shop look like today? Post some pictures if you can. I know everyone here feels your pain of the shop being under water. Take care

Wow this is horrible. Hopefully insurance can cover all the damages, but just remember, it is only material. You did not lose anyone in this flood, and this is the important part.

Well, the flood waters started to recied yesterday morning. Right now, they're back down to normal, however, everything is covered in mud and garbage/branches are everywhere. We started the cleaning processes yesterday afternoon.
Amazingly, the shop never lost power and the plumbing still works. About 3 feet of water got into the garage. Just enough to get the carpeting of all the cars wet, but fortunately, not high enough to get at the electricals/engines. We won't know if the dyno will still work until we get it hooked up.
Business will resume on Monday.

Well, it's been a few weeks and things are almost back to normal at the shop. Our little mexican cleaning guy quit, so now it's my job to clean up the shop & work on the cars. Meanwhile, Hans just installed AC into his new office and doesn't really come out anymore... I just finished cleaning the interiors of all the cars that were in the flood and finished up the 98 VR4 last week. The car came out great! New stock stereo/speakers, new window regulators, new auto climate contoler, and a few other things were all that needed to be replaced. The new engine/tranny were out of the car durring the flood so luckilly all I had to do was install them. I pulled the entire interior appart (including the dash) and cleaned/repaired any dirty/damaged wires. The front bumper was repainted and luckily matched perfectly with the fenders/hood. A slew of other things were done to the car as well as a couple mods (exhaust & BOV mainly). I'll get pics of it soon. Unfortunately, now the buyer is no longer intrested in it... So, it's up for sale. Heck, I may throw my car up for sale and buy it. Maybe I could convince Hans into letting me drive it to the Green Bay gathering "for someone to buy it".
