I was looking over my rear exhaust manifold where I think I have an exhaust leak...I noticed some oil leakage around the intercooler pipeing where it attaches to the top of the rear turbo....There were alot of metal flakes in the oil, and it sounds like I can hear a noise coming from the turbo....I still think I can hear a seperate exhaust leak aswell....could anyone out there take a look at this thing, and give me some advice Im willing to take a drive if someone will help me out....Thanks Jeff

I pulled the intercooler piping off the rear turbo, with all the bolts out I could see that there was alot of play between the pipe and the turbo.. Has anyone had this happen before if so what was done, or is this a common thing?? I didnt put the bolts mack into the heat sheild because that seemed to put alot of stress on the connection between the turbo and the piping Thanks, Jeff

Pulled the intercooler piping off the rear turbo with bolts and saw the turbo... hmmm....
The top peice of piping? That runs behind the plenum? I can't see anything but the exit to the inducer If I pull that pipe. unless I'm not understanding you right?
The only "easy" way for me to feel my turbo play was to yoink the MAF, air filter, Y-pipe, and the "under Y-pipe" that splits the air flow after it goes through the maf. Then you reach down under the plenum and undo the hose clamp and take the rubber pipe off the inducer to the rear turbo. Now, If you have a flash light, standing on the passenger side of the car, you should be able to look down past the battery, back by the plenum, and see the inducer turbo fins. to check it for play you grab the ?bolt/stud? sticking out the middle of the fins and wiggle it. both back and forth and up and down, and left and right.
This will show you what your compressor wheel looks like, and show you the shaft play, but will not show you what your exhaust side impeller looks like. Seeing that side is a bit harder.
