http://www.us3s.com/freeforum/showthrea ... ge=1&pp=15I know if ya dropped this into a car it wouldn't be a true 3S anymore but apparently its do able. I want to know what the gains would be and how much modification there actually is. And also how much one of these engines would run to do the whole thing.

The main thng is the fitment and fabrication of the motor mounts. The motor will need to sit about 3" lower in the engine bay in order to close the hood as it has a taller deck height. Oiling system may also need altering along with the pan.
As far as gains... the potential is huge due to the larger displacement. But once again, camshafts will be a big issue. You'll need to have some that fit what you want to do. Its whats really holding back the NA 3/S right now. We have the air in, exhaust out, and fuel to cover huge amounts of power. The problem is we need cams that keep low-end TQ as well as give us high HP #'s to go along with a higher revving engine.

Why are cams such an issue last time I checked 3sx offers a couple different setups of cams. There just expensive and you need all the other coordinating parts. Idk if thats why we are gettin held back or what.

Different cam grinds do different things. Some give better low end grunt, while others give more breathing at high RPM for more horsepower. Most are not suited for all around jobs. For that you would need something like a V-TEC. Not that the V-TEC gives you more power, it just allows you to have more than one cam profile, so that your car will run well at low rpms and be able to make higher power at higher rpm due to the second set of cam lobes on the same shaft. Joe you should just throw on a turbo. It'll will let you have a milder cam set up and still make horsepower when you want it. If you don't want a bigger engine, fake it by adding air, and make it think it's bigger

Or as set of MIVEC heads.
