Does the 99 Vr4 exhaust mate up without modding to the NA exhaust or will modding be needed and if so what will be needed to mod? Does anyone suggest putting a Vr4 exhaust on an NA or should I just go get a new one? Are there any sound clips of them on NA's? thanks Paul

The TT down pipe (front part) will not bolt up to your headers. The cat back (rear part with the mufflers) will bolt up to the NA cat because they are all the same on our cars. I'm going to assume that because the FWD and AWD chassis are so different, the hangers will be in different places, and the FWD rear control arms will be in the way.
In other words, I don't think it will fit, but then again, I've never tried it.

I recall someone on 3si doing this. I'm not sure how much of the TT exhaust they used or what mods they did to it. I remember cuz I was thinking of upgrading on my car. I'm not sure if there were soundclips or not.

Aright well I have done some research and there are actually quite a few NA's that replaced there stock with TT's exhaust sytem. My question is what is all about non active and active exhaust? Would it be that hard to mount a motor and switch for sport and tour mode? Any help is welcomed thanks a lot Paul

Any help is welcomed thanks a lot Paul The TT cat back has been mounted on N/A's before. Hangers might need to be modified. The active exhaust motor most likely won't work. In the TT it is RPM dependent at ~3000 RPMs it switches to sport if it was in tour. You would want to wire the valve open. A custom exhaust of the same diameter might be just as effective as a TT exhaust and most likely cheaper. The TT doesn't get big power from the exhaust, the turbochargers and ECU are responsible for the power.

Well as I sit right now the custome job I have on the car cost 300 and I can get a VR4 exhaust for 150 shipped. So most likely I'm gonna go with that but any other opinions are welcomed thanks Paul

Whoa. Hold up. I bet you can get a stock exhaust for much cheaper than that. Most of us are willing to just give our away for free to get it out of the garage, haha.
Check with Curt Gendron (send him a PM). He might part with his for MUCH less? If not, I'll have 2 TT-cat-back exhaust available come this spring that I'll dump very cheap. Like, next to nothing.

Jesse, you're going to have to hook me up with one of those exhausts when you get them off. Heck, I'll even come over and take it off with you.
And he is right. You should be able to find them for just over the cost of shipping. Just shop around or make a 'wanted to buy' post on 3Si and US3S.

I have the exhaust off from my 95 RT TT sitting in my basement. I was going to keep everything from the cat forward, but the rest could go. It doesn't have any of that fancy sport/tour exhaust mode stuff on it. The drivers side muffler has a softball sized dent in it on the underside, and it's missing one or two of the chrome tips.
I'd part with it for the low, low price of a case of miller lite. I'm not sure how much the layout of the exhaust changes from different years/different options, but I'd think that it would be pretty close. If someone wants it just speak up.

I might just have to take you up on that offer. Depends what Jesse plans on doing and if I can find out what goes on with the removal of the electronic exhaust stuff. I'm pretty sure everything is the same size.
