First time I have logged in here in quite a few years. I used to be a bit of regular but the care went into storage years ago and the wife ran up credit cards. So it sat covered in the garage for years. Its a 93 VR4 and had the 1000K service done a year before it went into storage. Last time it was started was probably 3 years ago. First I know I need to get rid of the gas in the tank. What is the best way to do this? Every year when it would come out of storage would can oil, plugs and pressure test. The car was running a bit rich last time it was ran and I assume it needs new caps on the CPU or whatever it's called. I know I should have replacement caps here from a few years ago.
So what else should I do before firing up my VR4?
I sure hope the VLS shocks are still in good shape and hold the doors up.
Thanks in advance for you help and glad to be back!

Can't help you with the gas, maybe someone else can chime in, and I'm sure there's plenty more, but I'd be leery of the gaskets as well. I would also change all fluids before start-up and do a through inspection.
As to the capacitors on the board of the ECM or ECU, if you don't know what your doing, or have never done this before, I would not attempt this. There are plenty of places that do this for a nominal fee. I'm presuming the reason you want to replace them is that you've tested them and they are not falling within spec range?
Just my 2-hp.

There is a drain valve on the bottom of the gas tank. Oil and filter change for sure. Check fluid levels in diff, transfer case, and transmission. Check brake fluid, clutch fluid, and coolant. Take off timing cover and take a look at the belt and tension. Check the accessory belts while your at it.
I would check for acorns (or mouse nests) in your intake pipes (yes I've seen it before and the acorn stuck the throttle open). All kidding aside, at least check your air filter for mouse holes...
Then after you start it, look out for the mice that will come shooting out your exhaust (seen that too). After that look everything over for leaks.
That's about all I can think of.
I +1 the caps on the ECU. Unless you've done a decent amount of solder work on pcb's, you should probably send it out to have it done.
Best of luck and weclome back! Aaron
