I just put in a new water pump and timing belt in my 93 Dodge Stealth ES. Its the DOHC, got the timing right on, and started her up, she ran for 10 seconds then died. Cranked her over more and just wont fire. I pulled the spark plugs out and they are full of gas and i get spark. I did spray alot of degreaser stuff on the motor and old water pump before i took it off. Could the degreaser stuff mess up the crankshaft timing sensor? Is that why it wont run? any suggestions would be helpful. thanks

no, it turns over fine, and ran fine for the ten seconds it did. I am just wondering if that degreaser stuff would ruin the sensors?

No it shouldn't.
When you did the timing belt, you did remember to hook back up the crank & rear o2 sensor right? Those are the 2 plugs you need to remove and set aside when taking off the timing belt cover. In addition to that, check the wires for the crank sensor and make sure they are not cut.
You are absolutely sure the timing marks on all 5 locations lined up perfectly after rotating the whole motor assembly 3 rotations forward and backward?
Is the MAS is plugged in? Anything else you altered besides the stuff for the timing belt?

Yep unplugged everything connected to the motor and cleaned all the connections. I figured gotta have a short or something. Since the car has 253,000 miles on it. Did a compression test and the number 1 cylinder only had 50 psi. She was just so flooded from trying to get her to run, that she was flooded pretty bad. So I changed the oil, pulled all the plugs and put some oil in the cylinders. Did the compression test again and got 175 to 225 for compression now. So i am going to put the intake back on and see if she fires. I will let ya guys know, thanks.
G-Ell - thanks for all ideas i appreciate it and everyone else.

Well i finally find out what the problem was, the sensor on the crankshaft was not working. the piece of metal that goes through the sensor was not moving at all. Lucky i didnt have it fully but together and positioned it the right way and she fired right up. She now sounds the best she ever has. no more over heating now
