Hey everyone, Its that time of year again. Time to start the planning for the 2004 Upper Midwest Gathering in Wisconsin Dells. This year the gathering will happen May 21-23rd. I just got off the phone with Dawn at Baker's Sunset Bay Resort to set everything up. This year there will be a free continental breakfast and the rates are lower. Woo-hoo! We'll be getting a 10% discount off of there "A" rate. To see rates, check out: http://www.sunsetbayresort.com/rates.cfm Usually, we get 20% off the B rate, so the rooms will definatly be cheaper than last year! The "Doube Queen Mini Suite" should be $52.20 a night for non-lakeside and $61.20 a night for lakeside. Jesse Rink with W3SI will be helping me organize this growing event. Anything less than 40 cars will be a disapointment. I'm expecting a huge showing from W3SI and I hope we'll have more than the 7-8 cars from MN 3/S that we had last year. There will be a few fun/new changes this year. I'll get the website updated soon with all the info. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you Wisconsin guys again. later, Curt

Curt, I went for the first time last year, and you KNOW I'll be there again this year. Like I've told everyone I talk to about this event, it's not something you want to miss. Even if you're just a car junky, and not just a 3/S junky, this whole town is a cruising zone. You could druel on muscle cars, t-buckets, or imports all day. It's AWESOME.

I'll be there and will be bringing a couple of friends, non 3s unfortunately, but some nice rides. One has a '00 WS-6 firebird the other a '68 El Camino with a "nice" motor.

Hey everyone,
As you can see in my signature, I have the webpage up for the Upper Midwest Gathering. If you are planning on coming, you should sign up on the mailing list and let me know by sending me and e-mail.
You can also help advertise the gathering by putting the banner in your signature. Both hear and on 3si.org. Here is the code: {url=http://www.mn3s.org/upper-midwest.html]{img]http://www.mn3s.org/umg-banner.jpg[/img]
Just replace the "{" with "[" and it will put the jpg in with the link.
later, Curt

I've got the W3SI webpage ( http://www.w3si.org/new_events.htm) updated with the Upper Midwest information. If anyone notices any glaring typos, let me know. It's late at night and I might have fat-fingered a few things, lol. We're looking for a big turnout from the W3SI crew for this event, so let's not disappoint! If you plan to attend only ONE event this year, THIS is the event you should attend - you won't be disappointed. Not only that, but you might walk away with some pretty killer prizes to make it worth your while. Jesse PS - I almost forgot... MN3S and W3SI would like to thank Bryan from Green Bay for coming up with the UMG '04 banner ad for us. Great work Bryan!

Hey Jesse,
Thanks for getting the info up on W3SI. Bryan did a knock out job on the banner too!!
I've been doing a little research on gathering numbers. The NG gets around 180 cars and the East Coast Gathering gets about 120 cars. The next biggest gathering that I can find is the Blue Ridge Gathering. Looks like they had around 50 3/Ses there.
So whats my point?? We have a real chance at making the Upper Midwest Gathering the third largest 3/S gathering in the USA. I know we can top the 50 3/S mark. We'll need to promote the heck out of it and pull all of our resources, but I think we can do it!!
I'm startin' to get pumped.....
later, Curt

Josh Peterson and I will both bring the VR-4s down, that's 2 from Stevens Point for sure. I got a PM from a guy im Minocqua the other day, and I tried to recruit him, but that's a fairly long drive. I do think it would be worth the trip though.
good luck to the planners, I'll be there all weekend!
Matt
