Well, I've been cleaning the car pretty much all day today, wash, claybar, wax, all the leather and interior. But there's a couple things that i'm not quite sure on and was wondering if anyone here could help.
First off, the trim (under the windows, weatherstripping, etc) What should I use on it to get it black? It's kind of faded, I used mothers back to black, and it doesn't really work.
Second, the engine bay. What should I use to clean all the hoses/wires to get them new looking again? Is there a certain degreaser or something to use by the fenders and radiator? My car is pearl white, and the white in the engine bay looks all black and gross.
Thanks for any help.

try getting the engine bay steam cleaned...it's like 30 bux, but well worth it. as far as the window trim, i dont have the back to black, but i think it's a similar black ink product with a sponge like applicator. i taped off the body panel, rolled the window down and went to town...looks a million times better.

for the engine bay, 409 and a clean rag.
Clean until the rag is dirty.
Then get a new rag and repeat.
Use new rags until your engine bay is the desired shade of white, or your fingers are bleeding.
Window trim has never really bothered me when it is the wrong shade of black/gray. I've never worried about that.

I use Black Magic. It's for tires but works really well on weather stripping and leaves a nice shine.

I used simple green and a rag. Then I went over it with some polishing compound and finally a good coat of wax. In some spots that the paint was a little rough (orange peel) I wet sanded 1500 grit then 2000 grit and then polishing compound and wax. I probably spent 15 hours on it, but it's pretty easy to keep it clean once you get it clean the first time...

MMMMM Simple GRREEN! That stuff is amazing ! Good for the environment too. Any way the Trim..I have used Back to black...not that good of a product. I use some "Wizards" products. Some one turned me on to these products at the UMG one year. What you need to try is the Wizards vinyl Shine dressing and protectant. I saw it on line at www.storeseven.com or just do a search for wizard car care products . You'll find it. Tim
