I need some help checking for a leak/recharging my A/C. Would like to convert to R134a. I'm very broke and trying to get my car in shape for a big move, so anyone that is familiar with this or knows a place it can be done for cheap, please give me a hand. I live between Madison and the Dells, so either area is fine. It's a 91' SL Let me know! Thanks! Matt

I don't know about in the madison/dells area, but my charming bride's uncle has a automotive shop that just recharged my r134a in the stealth for 40 bucks.
Mckeefry auto off packerland in GB. prolly a bit out of the way for you.
It included sucking all the air and crap out, along with adding new coolant.
As far as conversion, you are out of my field.

For converting the only thing that needs tone done is to replace the rubber seals with tephlon ones. Not sure about out there but put here they're available at every auto parts store. They're green in color and come in a generic assortment pack.
If you came to the green bay gathering I can swap them all out for you. I can't charge the system though as I won't be able to bring the freon onto the plane.

R12 is so much better....
but anyway just get a recharger kit and a few cans (depends how much you need). I recharge my cars by myself. no need to pay $80 at the shop. that is how much I paid last year for our acura.

Try the stuff called Freeze 12, you can get it on ebay w/o a license. It worked great in my 91.
