I ordered the capacitors necessary for the documented "ECU Leaky Cap" problem on '91-94 3/S's. I bought 5 sets total. One set is for my car, and another is for SJ (p1pedream). It's basically a preventivive maintenance thing, but a good idea to do BEFORE they go bad according to all the gurus. AvPro explains why early model Mitsubishi-built Dodge Stealths and Mitsibishi 3000GTs (1991 through 1994) can have a problem on the ECM motherboard. AvPro says that Mistubishi used Rubycon Electric electrolytic capacitors (I could see the Rubycon label on one my capacitors). These capacitors can leak after prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures. The liquid electrolyte leaking from the capacitor is very caustic and reacts with the metal (circuits) on the board. This can cause unusual and detrimental operation of the engine while the capacitors themselves continue to operate normally. --> For more information go to http://www.stealth316.com/2-ecmremoval.htmECU's go for over a $1000 brand new, and several hundred dollars for a rebuilt one. Replacing the caps is a good preventative step to insure yours doesn't crap out on you. Since I have 3 extra sets, I'm offering them to other members. Drive your car out to my place and I'll replace the ECU caps for $5 (to cover the cost of parts basically). If you want this done, sign up below.. I've only got 3 sets though. PS - Changing caps is easy work. I did electronic repair for several years so I'm familiar enough with soldering electronic equipment to do this for you if you'd like. Let me know. JRink

Make sure you clean the ECU with some kind of circuit board cleaner as there may be some electrolyte on the board.
I neglected to do this after replacing the CAPS in the ECU in one of my DSM's and not 6 months later, the board was shot.

I planned on using lacquer thinner. It cleans up junk on circuit boards really well. I've used it in the past. Helps get rid of anything that could be conductive.

Have you looked at the link Jesse posted in the itallicized paragraph? Take some time and read everything over.
It cost me $.55 to replace all 3 capasitors in my DSM + $6.00 for lunch for a buddy to solder them in for me. I got them at the local electronics store.
