So my VR4 just rolled 100k miles and I get the oil changed every 3k miles as recommended. Question is, I always just get the standard 5W30 run of the mill oil change every time. Is there something else I should be using or doing for oil changes to guarantee the engine sees it's maximum life expectancy? Different oil grade, brand of oil, or any parts that need to be replaced?

10w40 or 15w40 (or 15w50)
5w30 is definitely to thin for summer months.

synthetic. Mobil 1 or whatever your preference is. You may want to research switching to synthetic oil on higher mileage engines. Synthetic oil will break down deposits left behind by dyno oil and may cause some issues.
