I haven't accepted the $$ for it, but I got a very good offer for my car today. I'm having an extremely hard time letting it go.
It all boils down to $$ and with my current income and expenses, I just can't afford the $530/mo car payments anymore. I know I can find another one for cheep and build it up like this at a price I can afford, but it's so hard to let go of a car that has treated me so well over the last few year and one that I've put so much work into.
A second job is out of the question & will never live with roommates again. I put in way to much time at GZP for another job, and I don't see Hans giving me a raise in the near future.
Without this car though, I can finally move on to the next step in my life which would be to finally buy and own my own home/property. I'd be the first person in my family in 2 generations to own one this young in life. This has been a lifetime goal of mine since I graduated.
Opinions & comments appreciated.

wholly cow. sad to see that car go... But, like you said, the important part is the knowledge to be able to build any car up to that level. Good luck with whatever path you decide Greg. no more photo shots with the matching stealths

Damm. I know its for the best though, and I'm sure you'll be back into the 3S platform when the $$ is there. As long as you don't go buying a supra....we won't stone ya.

Property is an investment, and you'll almost always see it appreciate in value.
Owning a car, and specifically a 3S - Money just keeps going in, value goes down.
True fact.

Should add,
These cars are a tremendous amount of fun.
So what's more important to you? Having fun, or being fiscally responsible? Usually the two don't go hand in hand.

To know the amount ot work and time and TLC you put in this thing makes it really hard for me to swallow, but based on the path you have spelled out adn chosen, I think it a wise decision. I'm with stupid though -- you cannot buy another car, only a new 3/S fixer upper.
Best of luck MS.

We'll, I'll tell you my humble story and how it all worked out for me. I bought a house right out of high-school and really had to skimp on the toys (pre-vr4 days). Bought the house in 92 right out of high-school for 40k and payments only 350/mo. Improved my income over the years and about 5 years later bought my VR4, so after just some downtime had both investment (responsibility) and fun. Sold that house two years ago (2004) for 80k and only owed 15k on it. Nothing like the feeling of someone handing you a check for around 60 grand. Bought a beautiful new house on the lake, 1 acre with about 50 feet of frontage, put down half cash on an Avalanche, picked up a 50" plasma tv, and a few other toys. Just January (only two years later) refinanced the house on the lake and it appreciated 40k in two years. Put 20k back in the house and they hand me a check for 20k. I just dropped 5k on a 2nd 3KGT DOHC just to commute back and forth to work with and another 5K on my VR4 in repairs and 2nd set of custom wheels (which will be in Monday just in time for the gathering) and bought a boat, all cash and am considering some investments with the other 10k. The point of the story isn't to avail you with my toys but to show you that at some point in time and not even a LONG time, those investments really are investments and pay you back in-kind. I'm only 32 and still have plenty of time to enjoy those toys. Still, my selfish side says to not sell it so that I can see it next week. In either case, take that as you may and good luck on whichever route you choose.

Good luck with everything Greg, ive been a homeowner for 5 years now and its hard to write the checks out for the mortgage instead of parts for the stealth, gotta humble yourself and have patience and things will work out. Shit takes time Brian

or a lexus c300 or whatever they drop the 2jz-omg-bbq in. still acceptable will be a 10 sec DSM, that new beamer with awd, and turbos, an international scout (lifted with the top chopped off), any jeep with circular headlights, or a clown car. actually, I wouldn't hold a supra against you, because 12 second 900hp car is still faster than me...
