Timing Belt - MD193874 - 145.35 - 104.76 Tensioner - MD319040 - 127.48 - 91.88 Timing Belt Tensioner Pulley - MD140071 - 48.98 - 26.12 Idler Pulley - MD319022 - 47.35 - 24.28 Water Pump - MD972005 - 144.86 - 107.3 Thermostat - MD174234 - 37.79 - 17.38 Fuel Filter - MB658136 - 39.88 - 18.34 Throttle Body Gasket - MD180361 - 7.26 - 1.76 Intake Plenum Gasket - MD143791 - 19.80 - 6.60 With the discount, the total with tax came to $420.73 ... I didn't expect it to be over $400, but I guess it's a lot better than the ~$650 it would have been without the discount. So with the separate purchase of Accel plug wires, NGK plugs, and lightweight crank pulley/belts, it's creeping up close to $700 in parts. All for a car that has knock at 7.5 psi... I hate life. EDIT: Wanted to plug the dealer I went to. Renner in wauwatosa. (Btw, their service department moved from the last time I was there, it's now next door in the Kia building.)

ttangel wrote: your still missing some gaskets, bucko. Really? The Team3S parts list only shows throttle body gasket and intake plenum gasket. I looked at a few other people's lists on 3si and don't know that I saw any others listed there, either. ttangel wrote: and why do you have knock at 7.5 psi? Who knows. I was getting bad knock at 9.5 pounds this weekend, but thought it was due to bad fuel from sitting in my tank all winter. Turned down my boost right away and yesterday I filled up with 93 (got it down to about a 1.5 gallons of bad stuff). Kept the boost turned down and today on my drive to work I peaked at 3 counts of knock. Driving was spirited, but not what I'd call hard.

my water pump gasket did not come with my water pump. you also need an o-ring, which I can't remember if a new one comes with a water pump.
Did you get the tensioner tool? Or are you borrowing someones?
Plus, if you plan on replacing the thermostat, is there a gasket that goes along with that... I "thought" there was, but I could be wrong.
hm... strange knock count... hm...
EDIT: Also, get a new rear turbo outlet o-ring. yours is leaking. ask me how I know.

The part number above is actually a Water Pump Kit. Looks like it comes with gasket and o-ring. ttangel wrote: Did you get the tensioner tool? Or are you borrowing someones?
I'm likely having Jeff do the work. ttangel wrote: EDIT: Also, get a new rear turbo outlet o-ring. yours is leaking. ask me how I know. How do you know? It's 10+ years old?

I bought the water pump kit when greg and I did mine, and it came with the gasket.
I wouldn't worry about the Thermostat gasket; when we replaced mine, there was no gasket in there. I resealed the new one with rtv and have had no issues.

Aren't there two tubes that run to the water pump that need gaskest or o-rings or som'in as well? SJ

Few things:
There is no gasket for the thermostat housing. You don't even need RTV. It just makes it harder to pull appart.
Waterpumps should come with a gasket & o-ring for the water neck. Just make sure you have all of the old gasket COMPLETELY scraped off otherwise it will leak. Once again, you don't need RTV.
Matt, all cars get very minor amounts of knock no matter what boost you're running. The knock sensor was probably just picking up the sound of your tranny shifting or your car rolling over a pothole. Turn the boost back up. Post a log if you're really concerned or I can do a tuning run with you this weekend.

I'll start to creep the boost back up and keep an eye on it.

Can anyone confirm? nope, but if you want you can pull the rear intercooler tube in about t-minus five second, and grab to o-ring and head to a hardware store. or I can bring a few to the next gathering... or something like that. I just bought a few gaskets for the NA waterneck housing that's going on my car. that must be what I was thinking. my bad.

Waterpumps come with gaskets, some oilpumps do not... Thermostat needs no gasket... No white out needed at the bald mans' house

Well, you heard from the man thats doing it, no white-out required on his watch.
Matt: When you were getting knock is it a spike then nothing, or continued? What kind of count are we talking here?
