Hey my new TT is awsome but, The car is like way to responsive with the steering. Every little bump seems like it makes the car dart in that direction. I have this problem at speeds 0-45. At speeds faster it's like jerky. It's like the steering is all wrong.?? My ES was only like this once . That was when I got new tires and TiresPlus put the rims on the wrong side of the car and the tires were directional (they were backwards too) The car nearly killed me. I will check and see if all of this is right on the TT, I haven't yet. Do I need a 4 wheel alignment? I am fighting the steering wheel way-to-much! Any suggestions? Tim

My vr4 has the same problem.
There's this certain road in La Crosse (West ave) that has all these smoothly paved dips and grooves in it which causes my steering wheel to veer in different directions. It's odd that I only notice it on this one street but it's definitely there.
Did you say this was a bad steering rack problem Greg>?

Nope.
Just a combination of AWS and wide tires. Wider tires make the car want to follow the dips in the road and AWS makes the steering too sensative for my liking.
I'm glad they didn't put AWS on the 95+ TT stealths.

See I was kind of wondering about the wider tires and AWS thing. I have only driven 2 other TT's . One was Gene Helms car. The other was a 95 TT in Appleton on a used car lot. Neither of them drove like this. Is there any thing I can do to make this better? I checked my rims and tires and all are on the right sides and the wheels are directional but they are pointing the right way. I didn't know that 95-96 didn't have AWS.!!!??? Tim

Consider staying on and then playing with your tire pressure.
I noticed this at first as well and found that the OEM recommendations, while providing a better ride, also make the batmobile follow the ruts in the road versus going where I want it. Try increasing a few pounds on each corner, KEEPING the 3lb stagger from front to rear. Worked for me.
As always, watch your tire wear carefully, be sure she is alligned and balanced as well.
Best,
SJ

Tim Also, it may pull in one direction, when you release the wheel, on a nice flat road (uneven tire pressure can also contribute to this). If you don't know when the last allignment was completed, it's probably a good idea to get one done. Best, SJ

I think I will be taking it in for a go around on the alignment. The car has also be lowered . I know this will bring the center of gravity lower. Does this contribute to the sensative responsiveness?
