I'll start well here I am in 1991 a 17 year old kid and I am watching tv, this comercial comes on for the Dodge stealth and its talking about all wheel drive and all wheel steering and at the time I knew nothing about turbos and what they did but it said it had 2 of em. the car was the coolest looking thing I had ever seen (like something out of star wars) and thats when I fell in love. I knew right then and there that was my dream car. just the seeing one driving down the road made me have to go home and change my drawers ..... well 2 years ago I finally hooked up with a good job and was able to afford one and I just happened to need a new car and its my birthday.. well needless to say the day after my bday there it is sittin in my garrage.. but thats wasn't the end.

well after being beat by my cousins 97 GSX (beyond bpu)numerous times in my 01 IS300 (toyomoto header, tanabe catback exhaust, injen intake). i decided i need a new car that started off with a lot of power and AWD for a good price range. And i was thinking about winter time too cause the IS300 sucks ass in snow. so i made the best choice in my life and bought a 93 VR4 . i still love my IS300, but thats gonna be the last time i buy a $36,000 civic

Hey, One early spring day, my dad made me aware that the bank in Chetek, WI, had a cool looking car sitting in their parking lot. Needless to say I went and looked at it a little closer. At the time I was unaware a car so cool existed. Then I got better news, it had been reposessed. It was a silent auction, highest bidder wins. I bid everything I had at the time (17 yrs. old, and not much!!). So I waited and waited, then about three weeks later I got a message on the answering machine saying that it had come down to my bid, if I wanted the car, all I had to do was pay for it. I had a smile on my face for a straight week. Someone could have kicked me in the junk and I still would have been smiling!!

Her brother told me about that VR4. I found it odd that it had non-turbo rims on it?? I did check it out and posted on the MN 3/S list about it. I'm getting the feeling that I've seen every 3/S out there at one time or another. PM me and let me know what you got it for. We had a bid in for $2k. later, Curt

Ah yes.. sort of an interesting story behind mine.. I was looking for stealth's for awhile, and WANTED a 5spd but I didn't know that it was an actualy 1.5 difference in the 1/4 or I would have demanded one. Anyway, I thought I had found the perfect car, red 92 stealth r/t, automatic but i didn't care. I loved test driving it and the looks that I got. I went there ready to buy, but took it to an ex-dodge mechanic for inspection. Found out some interesting things. It had been in an accident, and was very sloppily repaired. We're talking gluegun quality. Next up the tie rod on a front wheel was damn near broken, you could move the wheel nicely with your hands. Water pump was leaking, vents were falling out.. The mechanic said he feared for my journey driving back to the lot, and if I could get it for 5k it'd be a ok buy. ( they were asking 7500 ). So disappointed, I drove it back. They wouldn't go under 6990, and i said fuck it and went home, heart broken. Jumped on 3SI like usual, and saw a post about a 1993 Pearl blue ( my fav color ) r/t for sale 8500 in Madison, WI. It had everything i wanted, cept that fuckin tranny. I drove down there 2 days later, put 200 bucks on the beauty, and a week later picked it up. i still love it, but i need speed. So i need TT. So it's for sale, 7000 obo.

Hmm. Well, let's see. It was December 98 and I was looking around for a Twin Turbo Stealth for roughly 3 months. I came across an add in the Chicago Tribune that caught my eye so I called up the owner and inquired about it. He said it was a 91, with 19,300 miles on it and was maroon in color. Well, that was all I needed to hear and said, "thank you, not interested". I didn't want maroon, I wanted blue or possibly black.
Rewind about 7 years prior to that... See, this all goes back to 91 when the Stealths came out. I was driving a totally wicked 1981 Plymouth Horizon (brown in color) *cough* and the first time I saw a stealth I knew I'd own one some day. It also had something to do with a year or two later when I saw the TV show called "Viper". There was a scene where 4 black stealths (they were the bad guys) were chasing a dodge viper (who was the good guy). Obviously, the stealths did not catch the viper and all 4 ended up crashed and in flames. Still, the race scene was cool and it re-inspired my "want" for this car.
Fast foward back to 1998. A month went by in my search for a Twin Turbo Stealth and I still hadn't found one. I called this guy back up in Chicago and asked him if it was still for sale, which it was. I drove down there that night. Met the guy, took it for a spin on Lake Drive and when we got back I gave him $100 to hold it. I managed to get him to drop $400 off the price, but to be honest, I was so hooked after driving it, I would have paid $4000 MORE than what he was asking. Money was pretty free at that time in my life I guess, heh... pre-mortgage. Funny thing is, I didn't know anything about these cars, problems, what to check for, and I didn't even have the car inspected. All I did was drive it and put my money down. For all I knew, the car needed $5k worth of work, but darned if I knew. I asked him if there were any known problems and he said, "no" so I took him at his word, lol. What can I say, I wanted to car SO bad I didn't even care. Luckily the car turned out to be without any major problems other than the usual transfer case leak for 91s.
So... That's my story and I'm sticking to it. JRink

yea i always liked cars, but like those real exotic cars. Ones that I would never be able to afford. I saw bretts car (DSM Stealth) and ohhhh wee thought it was sexy as shit. He talked me into getting a car, i saw a 1994 3000GT in the newspaper for 7500 i went and looked at it. Even sexier in person yea i bought it for 7200. The next day, clutch was gone. the owner lied to me ohhh well i still love the car, its my baby.

Back when I was 15/16 there were 3 TV shows on the air (Viper, Walker, and Kung Fu) that had Stealth's in them. I fell in love with the car and wanted one with a passion. Sure as heck, about 3 months after I got my license (back in 98 ), there was a red 95 base ATX with just under 40K on it for sale at the local dealer. It had just been turned in after a 3 year lease.
At that time, I was laying brick during the summer making good $$ (god, I miss those days) and was able to talk my grand parents into taking out a loan in their names while I made the payments. Ended up biting me in the butt 2.5 years later when they decided to retire and more up north and wanted to get rid of all the $$ and loans that tied them to this area.
The 91 TT I found about a year ago on 3si. It was in Appleton, the price was good, and it needed some TLC (tune-up, clutch, and a few other things). Baught it, fixed it up, but got laid off last April and had to sell it.
Now I'm seaking another 3/S project. Ideally, it'll be a 96 TT, but I'm also tempted to try a FWD TT. We'll see.

My Story has few twists and turns. Some where in 1991 (Christmas) I went to buy a Dodge Lancer from a used car lot in GreenBay. Well there was this White TT 91 Sitting there also car phone in it and everything . They wouldn't let me test drive it siting " only serious buyers" could test drive it . PISSSED me off! Nedless to Say I grew to liking this car before this point somewhere. Maybe from the Tv Shows also. Several months would pass before I would experience actually driving. a Stealth. The next time was in Appleton. I saw a 91' ES or base Stealth for sale at Behm motors. I just wanted to test drive it. And It happened to be white with a 5 speed. This sales man went with my wife and me to drive it . He sat in the backseat, 6'3" and all !!!! FUNNY AS HELL! My take on the car was I couldn't see the dash board lights right and the clutching was strange. And She had some zipp to it BUT not as much as a 4 cyl Turbo I had at that time. So end of story RIGHT????? NOPE! I for several years looked longingly at Stealths and test drove a ES here and there but never the right price or time to buy.I really also wanted a TT but Not at my age with insurance. 2/22/99 On a shopping trip to Appleton I saw the most eye catching Attention getting car of my life! A 1995 Dodge Stealth Galaxy White Pearl, TWIN TURBO, Chrome rims , no signs of wear or tear on the outside. I think it had 40,000 miles on it , they wanted 19,900. Priced to sell. I went back with in several days and Drove My first TWIN ! My younger brother came along . We were doing 80 before got OFF the on ramp! And I was I think just in third gear! We took Pictures of the car even, after a 30 minute drive. I should have taken longer! Some where in March I saw a 1991 Stealth ES On a used car lot In GreenBay. I test drove it and came to the conclusion she need a good amount of work and was I up to the game? Well I thought about it and the more I did the worse the itch got to buy it. In the start of April I test drove it after they moved it to the otherside of town to another lot. I once again really was gun shy due to shaking tires, the motor missing and the ticking motor, So 4/28/99 I bought the old girl! Paid $6,700. She had 74,606 for mileage. White , 6 speed , cloth seats .They were some VERY hard miles! 2 previous owners from my research. That's when the Blessing / curse of my car started !!! I have just a touch over 100,000 miles on it now. I have spent easily $7,000 OR MORE on it and these were just fixer-uper things. No big mods ever done. I sure have learned TONs with this car. I still want the TWIN TURBO and will someday get it! I can't ever see my self without a Stealth in the yard! Before I go , the water pump and head gaskets blew 2 months later. It would now sit for a little over a year, It would hit the ground September 23rd, 2000. I hadn't even made my first payment and the car went to POT! My story is like the Money Pit! But It runs now ! TIm

Well, the first time I saw a 300GT was in a Magazine add back in 1994. It was for the up coming VR4 Spyder. It was the sweetest car I'd ever seen. My friend and I both look at it, then ant each other and said, I'll own one of those one day.
After I totaled my 944, I stared looking for a nice ride. I found about 5 VR4s for sell, but only 2 of them were still around. A red on tan 94 and a black on tan 95. With in the week I had the black one in my driveway and started redoing the leather the next. Never looked back.

so six weeks ago i got in a car accident and totaled 2 cars and broke some bones. so i got no car, cant work, and have a perscription for vicatin (which is nice). so i start lookin at www.autotrader.com for some cars and my friends like, "you need a nice car, somethin quick" my last car was a buick so you know. he wanted me to get some honda, but i wanted a v6. so i stumbled across this stealth. oh i wanted it. and i got it, i could hardly drive cause i had only my left arm (its and auto though, i know i know) but now that i got it i'm hooked. i can't wait till i save some dough, i'm going for the TT asap. so i'm sorta car stupid still so i'll ask lots a questions if i can't figure stuff out. on a side note, a week after i get my car this guy yells at me on blue mound in waukesha...he starts tellin me about 3si and stuff. (i hope he knows who he is) any way thats it. i got my car cuz it looks sexy. curves...

I had three cars totaled in my driveway and garage due to flooding. I had a 87 Monte Carlo SS w/ T-Tops BPU++, a 64 T-Bird BPU, and a 4-door Chevy Celebrity that were destroyed by the 2.5 ft. of water. The insurance gave me a quick settlement because everything was appraised. I also had brand new (arrive days before) Jet hot headers, next level intake and a carb for the SS that I RMA'd back to Jegs because the car was gone. I didn't want to rebuild the SS since the ECU is in the pass kick and was ruined and the interior had mud everywhere even in the speedo cluster. With this money I set out to get a car. I found a blue 93 RT TT w/36k miles that interested me so I hopped on the web and found www.3000gt.com. I was dismayed that the Stealth didn't have Active Aero but thought it was quite a car anyways. After learning how good the car was I decided to test drive it the next day. The car was sold, doh! I used Autobytel to search for VR-4's since I wanted the Active Aero. Bingo I found one 92 w/ 60k miles. So i took it for a test drive. Hmm, ran good nice handled like it was on rails. I bumped 110 mph in front of the dealer. I decided to think it over. On the way home I spotted a ZR-1 for the same basic price. So I test drove it. Damn fast but very loose with oversteer. I knew someone would snatch these cars fast so i had to decide that night. I couldn't sleep which wasn't a problem since I worked 2nd as a machinist. I decided I wanted the 2+2 seating for insurance reasons. The 3000GT was $1000 less every 6 months for me to insure. I put $1000 down to hold it and picked it up the next day after financing was complete. In total I paid 75% up front because the extend warrenty was a mint. I drove the car to work that night. I told my boss I bought a VR-4 and he said "yeah right" I told him to look outside the door and he said. " Holy S--t nice car" I don't regret not buying the ZR-1.
