Hey all: Thinking out loud here (be nice Amad). I thought this was one of our members cars he recently sold? Swore I spoke with him at the UMG? Anyway, questions are: 1. With a '99 nose, can you keep and still use the active aero? 2. What kind of wheels are these and are they 19"'s? And yes, I dig the way this car looks. But until I hit the lotto... Please advise. Thanks, SJ

I like the rims. SJ, you need bigger turbos first. that car has DR500s. I know where you can get a set. I washed my car next to that car and it's new owner at the NG. Ver fer was also there. I believe her user name on 3si is "maria strife" or something... she has an anime character as her avatar. She took a few pictures of the road america event and posted them on 3si. She is really pretty good with a camera. The car is pretty nice also. Believe it was also at the UMG, and Matt was driving it. loaded with street blaze and offering rides... EDIT: link to road america pic thread. http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=297179

DR500's? Bah. Those are for wussies that want to run 11.98 @ 115 or something weak like that. REAL men buy big turbos and hang them on their wall!

putting a 99 front end on a first gen itn't as easy as just a swap. The headlight "buckets" need to be replaced, and I believe that requires some cutting and welding. Those of us that have a 2nd gen, can just swap front bumper covers, but I added the 99 headlights and side markers.

It's the marajuana of the 3/s turbo world. just big enough to make you want(need) more. Real men send Chuck Norris into the garden to flog the ninjas, and not come back out til he's dragging four rims.

When I get my rims I'm not using them; I'm hanging them on my wall next to the turbos.

I'm pretty sure Matt is still active on this board. I think the person that bought his car is from Iowa. A

SHE BOUGHT THE @#$%^! CAR. DUH. So, I guess I can get ALL the answers I need now! Uh huh. Been a LONG day. One of these days Alice...SJ

Okay, I've gotten a ton of feedback, so I thought I'd ask you guys with a poll.
'99 front end?
I've heard everything from "best as it is, leave it alone you freak" to '99 with current side skirts to compete '99 changeover including wing.
What's your take?
SJ

i am almost certain you will lose front active aero if you do it, and you will have to either have custom body work done to get it to fit with your headlights, or buy '99 headlights and new headlight buckets for it.
So you are looking at 2000 dollars with the lights, corner markers and bumper cover, and that is just for parts, now you need to have it painted.
I think they look great with the '99 front end! (maybe that is why I did mine, becasue I like it.)
I am not saying what you should do either way, just adding my two cents worth of information.

SJ,
99 Front ends do not look good with 1G side skirts. You should do those at the same time. Plus, it's a lot of work to swap out the buckets and wire the headlights. Keep the car the way it is. It looks good the way it is now. Go full conversion or leave it be.
Besides, everyone is doing it. This is why I didn't go with a 99 front when I painted my car. At the NG, it seemed like every 4th car had a 99 front. It looks good, but it's over played.
My 3 cents.
