Time and time again I see new owners buying the cheepest TT they can find, or they stumble on one that needs a few things. Then they go to 3si and make a thread about the problem and buy everything every person suggested "just to be sure".
Then they find the cheepest replacement part (new or used) and take it to joe blow mechanic who charges an arm & leg and either messes up the install or break something else in the process.
Suddenly the car is a POS because you've spend too much $$, and it still has problems.
Suggestions:
You're buying a *used* car. Just like any 6-12 year old car, there are going to be parts that need to be replaced. Have some $$ set aside for this.
If you don't care about the horse power, don't buy a TT.
If you do care about the power, don't expect to run 12's on $500 worth of mods.
Just because a car has under 60K on it, don't think it still won't need anything (right Aaron?).
Just because a car is completely stock doesn't mean it won't need any repairs (right Brett?).
If you hate current gas prices, don't buy a TT. Buy a geo.
If you find a TT, bring it some place for an inspection. Most places only charge $25-35 for inspections. It's better to spend that $$ than to buy the car and find out it needs $3000 in repairs. I do inspections too.

All that aside, I love my TT. I've owned 2 of them now and both were very rewarding and fun cars. The truth is, I also really enjoy my NA. HP is for going fast, and I don't care to do that 100% of the time. I like these cars for the style, ride, luxury, and handling. You don't need AWD and 300hp to enjoy those.
