Need some help with this one... the locks in christine's car are on the fritz.. when the key is out of the ignition and you lock the doors they pop back open again like our cars do if the key is in the ignition and you try to lock it. any idea?

Interesting. My car does the exact opposite: when I unlock the doors they immediately relock themselves. The only way I can get in is to hold the key in the "unlock" position and open the door.
Greg was telling me that it could be something grounding out in the door lock circuit, I'd talk to him about it.

What happens when you manually lock them without using the door or remote button? Same thing?

so you're saying that if you close the door and then turn the key they won't lock? Or are you saying that if you flip the lever they won't lock?

Does her car have keyless entry? If not, then it's probably a problem with the ignition cylender.

christine thought they didnt lock at all but they do lock in manual, i replaced the soliniod( <--cant spell) under the dash and still same thing.
also that little buzzer knob that goes on when the door is open, that doesnt come on at all unless i wiggle it. The power locks will work then but if the key is in the on position with the buzzer working and the key in the on position they should automaticly unlock and they dont.....i thought i had a bad connection on the buzzer knob so i cleaned it and still doesnt work unless i wiggle it to a certain position....

Do you know how to pull the steering column appart? I think it's just 4 screws on the bottom. Make sure the tilt is all the way down. Pull out the rubber ring around the ignition.
Once you get the screws out, the column cover comes apart in 2 halves (top and bottom). This will expose the wiper and turn signal controls. 2 more smaller phillips screws hold the wiper control stick on, just pull them out and let it dangle to the side.
Now you'll have clear view of the ignition cylender. Unplug it and check those connectors/wires.
Been a while since I've done this, but I think that's how it goes.

You might also simply try pulling that buzzer too. It's only a noise maker and it's unhappy may be causing issues.
Best,
SJ

Best,
SJ tryed that and the locks still do the same thing......just gonna wait till after nationals to get it done cause i have no time right now, she can still manually lock the car with the key so that good for the moment. Brian
