I guess I could pull one of brets front plugs out tomorrow and see what kind of reading I get from that. Bret's motor probably hasn't been run in a while meaning all the oil that was sealing the rings has probably settled down into the oil pan. In other words, his motor is going to have low compression until it's run for a minute.

Haha. Well that number might have been due to operator error... I checked it again today, but this time I pulled out the eci fuse and let it turn over quite a bit more for each cylinder. I got 180 on two of them and a little under 180 for the third. didnt check the back...Like I said, it seems to be running really good. So I guess the main problem now is that it dosnt like to shift out of third...is there anything else that could be other than the tranny in need of a rebuild?

That sounds much better, and as far as the tranny you may just need a new end clutch. Make sure the overdrive switch on the shifter is turned on, usually when those clutch's go out they tend to go into overdrive and slip though.

It will go into OD but if you get it over about 2 grand it will slip like a mother...feels just like it is in neutral. When its not in OD it shifts fine up to third, but usualy dosnt shift past third (I got it to shift into 4th once I think). It feels like it slips when its in third somtimes too. So is there any way I can confirm that its the end clutch other than putting a new one in and seeing if it takes care of it? Where would one get an end clutch?

Well thanks for the help matt, and everyone else for the advice. I got a chance to pull out the end clutch today... The fiber plates looked more like steel plates and a couple of the seals were prett chewed up. So in went the new stuff. Now it seems to shift alot better, and dosnt slip. Ill have a better idea if everything is alright once I get to drive it some more...no insurance right now. So anyways...thanks
