S.J.,
I searched high and low and the only aftermarket replacement dampers available for your application are Bilstein heavy duties. I don't have any feedback regarding this particular damper, but they are generally regarded as a quality replacement, however, they aren't adjustable, and may not provide the characteristics you need for track use.
Mark
I see what he means -- I would want the Sport version, not HD, unless we need HD because of the cars weight. I will call them tomorrow.
Any other ideas?
SJ

You add up the cost of the camber plates, the GC coil overs, and new struts, you might as well have gotten a set of K-sports which will ride better, fit better, and give you all your adjustments without clearance issues.

Captain Obvious: They didn't have those when I bought the GC system in '99. But seriously, that's the big dilemna MS. That's why I was wondering if there was another alternative to the Bilsteins. I'm kind of caught in the middle here due to poor design and engineering and a suspension that works great IMHO. And I like the ECS flexibility for those long hauls to gatherings and subsequent track events. ARGH. SJ

His work looks good, so it should be fine... and then you can stay with what you already have, and know. Good luck.

That why I was calling him out a few posts ago -- but I have to be honest, that may be pretty expensive as well. Who knows kids... One of these days Alice. Thanks, SJ

Raise the car an inch and get it realigned.

I know, I know -- but I'm not going to do it -- I love it at 2" drop -- it made all the difference in the world. I'm just not willing to compromise, so it's got be struts or the hood. But right now, struts aren't looking too good. FYI, Bilstein does still make them for our cars, but only a HD version, not a Sport, so they'd ONLY work if it's at the stock height. They don't make a Sport set for us. They recommended I find a company called De Carbon... I'm thinking modifying the hood may be the smartest way to go at this point. What a PITA. Thanks, SJ

I've considered that, but it's a load. The looks are fine, I just like the 70 lb weight savings, cold air inlet to the FIPK and rear trubo bank, and the heat outlets at the rear. In fact, I actually talked to Brian about adding a scoop to my OEM hood before I ever heard of Deft or that hood. Right now, the OEM hood is on the car and the Deft hood sits in the basement -- and this just occured to me -- in the same corner as my five guitars... Oh well. I was really hoping to have it for a track event. Thanks, SJ

I'd to thank our very own Mad Scientist and Jack T. for all their (and everyone elses as well) help in diagnosing options to lower the height of my OEM struts so I can begin fitting my Deft 575 hood. MS was right about adding the spacer below. Our friend Scott Camara was able to make the 1/2" spacers and install them for me this afternoon. Here are before and after shots: Should be good to go now on the hood, will try and do a fit this weekend. Thanks a million everyone. Best, SJ
