Hey all:

Day like today makes me think of... hiding more beer cans at Jesse's house.

Anyway, I have a small issue with my driver's electric seat. I put it back the last time I got out of the car, now it won't go foward -- or up and down at the rear of the bottom seat. The front of the bottom of the seat goes up and down, the lumbar works as well as the side bolsters. I tried checking the connectors under the seat, and I think they're all snapped together, BUT, it's tough to see anything because I can't get to the back bolts to remove the seat... (grumble, grumble)

Anyone encountered this? Any ideas? Fry? Bueller? Blank D O O Economics? Anyone?

Have you taken out the front bolts yet? I know when I took my power seat out after I got the front ones out I was able to tilt the seat a little forward and get to the back bolts easier. Still it took forever to turn the bolts because of how little I could turn them each time.

Actually, the front is attached by nuts on studs. And yes, no problem there. I tried to bend it back but no luck. I'm sure if I pressed the issue, I could... well, probably bend or break something -- I've got a natural talent for that.

Also, I ride with my seat all the way down because I'm tall, so the back of the bottom of the seat is stuck in the all the way down position.

Sounds like the switch is toast or the motor is bad. If possible try swapping in another switch. See if it cures the problem.

My thoughts exactly, but because more of the seat is working than not, I'm not so sure about the motor. Regardless, I can't get under it to get to the switch either. Sounds like a trip to WM.

Hey man:

Yep, it sure did, but if you remember I had to pull it as we had the apparatus that moves the bottom of the seat up and down in the wrong position (I was sitting like I had 3 phone books unde rmy arse [technical term]). I also tweaked a couple things while it was out and still need one more panel made to have it right (did not come with the kit, but enough leather did to make panel). Once back in the car, it worked fine again until this discovery.

So I'm wondering if I screwed up based on someone elses comment about burning up the motor, and the switch plate that normally goes under or behind the main switch. I'm wondering if the last time I got out of the car I forget to check to see if the button had come back to the center or rest position. I can't remember... but like I said, I can screw up anything, just give me a chance (Jesse -- no comments from the peanut gallery, I know where you live ).

So when it get's closer to Easter, I'll run it up to WM and see what they can do -- I'm stuck -- and so's the seat. Need to get it fixed before our next RA event for sure. Speaking of which, do we have a date for that yet?
