Over the last few weeks I've sporadically had some issues with my car...
First abnormalty is that my EGT gauge needle seems to flutter when I press the brakes?
Also, I've had this happen to me twice now where the car wont turn over and the battery gauge only reads 8V, lights get dim etc. I've also noticed while driving my gauge only shows a hair over 12V after driving for awhile, where usually its around 14V.
Has anyone ran into this problem before? Could it be a bad ground? Alternator? Where would I begin to even check for a bad ground?

Before you test alternator, etc... Check the connections on your battery. These cars are infamous for having shitty terminals - the positive one in particular. One of yours may 'appear' normal, but could be loose when you wiggle it. If you are sure they are ok, then start tracing grounds, test your alternator, etc.

How old is the alternator? ...or is it the one that came with the JDM motor?

I forgot you just rebuilt the NA motor with TT pistons. My bad...
Where does the EGT gauge get its power/ground from? ECU?

well my car died on the side of the road today, about 2-3 blocks from my work.. I got the whole fluttering Tach needle, gauges started pegging when the car was off. I promptly ganked out my ECU with the spare wrenchs I had in the hatch and walked to work. Pulled my caps and yep, they were leaking, replaced them, put the ECU back in, my Voltage gauge shows the correct voltage now, and my car started back up Gotta love these cars, I've replaced caps on my NA ECU, my TCU and now my TT ECU.. I should have known better than to not just replace them when I got the ECU.

Well that wasn't it, I'm almost to the point when I don't even want this car anymore. I pull into Napa to get my flywheel turned for Jeff to install. Go out to the car same shit. I wait 30 minutes, start the car up and the damn gas pedal is ROCK hard, I turn the car off, and check it out under the hood and the cable won't budge. Its one thing after another... and I can't forget how my car smokes when you turn it on initially, so much for getting a rebuilt shortblock and heads Getting it towed to my house because I have no choice really

Also I found while tearing my car apart at Napa, theres some relay that sounds like a MIG welder on the passenger side of the center console. Clicking on and off, seems to get worse when you press the gas pedal?

Is there something wedged in the throttle plate? Pull off the y-pipe and look before it gets sucked in!

no the throttle opened fine, it was the cable itself. Now I gotta figure out why this relay is going nuts on me.
