Plans are coming along nicely for our annual Rural Cruise and we hope you
ALL can make it, as we head back to...
The Legend...
The Legend of the Goatman and Hogsback Rd...
Make your plans
NOW to attend. You won't want to miss one of the favourite events of the year!
Be ready to again enjoy the rustic roads, hills, blind curves, twisty's and great scenic views of the Kettle Moraine Forest scenic drive, Holy Hill,
Hogsback Road and Erin rural areas.
Once again, I'll be out scouting soon to confirm our path into the abyss.
As in the past, this year's cruise will take us on a truly
legendary road, where it is said an unusual occurrence happened over 131 years ago. You be the judge...
We were told that nearly every resident in Washington County has heard the tale of "Goatman," a half-human, half-goat creature that resides along the perilous, hilly Hogsback Road near Holy Hill. However, we'll go over some details of this rural legend for those of you who may not be familiar with this horrid beast:
Goatman sightings have been reported since the 1870's. According to Mr. Hayes, who is an expert on the history of the subject, a Civil War Veteran and his new bride were passing through Hogsback Road when an axle on their wagon broke. If the legend stands correct, the man went off in search of a near-by farm for assistance, leaving his wife in the wagon alone. She fell asleep and slept until night had fallen.
Then, she awoke to a frightening noise. Quickly she peered out of the wagon, only to see a beast of giant structure running from the scene. Its upper body took the shape of a man, except for the horns on its head and sharp fangs. The lower abdomen was that of a goat's, adorned with long, stringy red hair. Out of terror, she hid herself in the wagon for hours, until she heard a
drip
drip
drip noise on the top of the canvas. Gathering up all of her courage, she peeked out of the wagon and looked up. There, she found her husband, hanging from a tree by a rope tied around his ankles. His throat had been slit, and the blood seeping from the gash was
dripping onto the top of the wagon. Later, when the scene of the crime was investigated, the only clues found were that of several long, red hairs and hoof-like prints in the mud.
More recent incidents involve couples that travel by automobile to Hogsback Road to do a little "romancin'" by the light of the moon. Normally, just as things get hot and heavy, a noise is heard outside of the car, and the male gets out to investigate. Of course he doesn't come back, and the girl begins to hear the same
dripping noise on top of the car. She gets out to take a look around, and guess what she sees?
3000GT's and Stealth's flying by a high rate of speed, of course!
As in the past, we'll meet in the parking lot of the Pick N Save right off Highway 16 at 601 Ryan St (I think it's called Highway KF as well) in Pewaukee. Stay tuned there as I head out for the aforementioned dry run and figure out if any construction may change our route slightly.
Here's a map of that Pick N Save location:
http://tinyurl.com/bws8n5qWe'll gather starting around Noon for lunch at Subway, and head out at
1pm sharp, plan to hit the DQ in Hartford on the way by, which is about the two-thirds of the way during the run, for that final boost of energy.
That address is:
1225 East Sumner Street
Hartford, WI 53027-1611
(262) 673-4233
So, be damn sure to find the restroom in Subway or Pick N Save before we head out.
Here's just some of the visuals and beautiful scenery you'll be sure to see on the drive:
As last year, we've worked hard to secure a nice place with a big parking lot as our final destination for prize giveaways and a cold one...
UNCLE BENNY'S!We'd like to thank Uncle Benny (aka
The Elusive White Ninja) for hosting the "Afterglow" again this year.
Remember this also Uncle Benny's birthday celebration as well...
Here is the map quest of where Uncle Benny currently resides:

Be sure your have a
full tank of gas and some money. In addition, FRS's, camera's and cell phones are encouraged.
REMEMBER -- AND I CAN'T SAY THIS ENOUGH -- this is a
cruise. We will be traveling over some of the most sought-after roads in
all of WI -- heck, probably in the Midwest. We have counted
many Police officers over the years and had some guests pulled over one year -- don't be this guy.
We'll do our best to keep everyone together and at
moderate speed. BUT please keep up -- I don't really have a map I can pass out, it is in my head -- which should scare most of you who know me...
We'll have a some real fun for sure, but not too much as there are many other car and motorcycle clubs out cruising the area, and many, many blind hills and turns -- and sheep... and dogs -- and people on bicycles... Besides, you don't need much speed to enjoy these rustic roads, banked turns and twisty's in the hills around this area -- just stay on the gas at the posted speed -- if you can...
Again,
this event is sponsored by 3SX Performance and W3SI, so we'll have plenty of good door prizes at the "Afterglow!"
PLEASE NOTE: we like to keep this event restricted to official W3SI members, and 3000GT's and Stealths. We ask that you please do not invite friends to this event. If you need one, I will bring W3SI decals for the back hatch.
In addition, A-man is bringing t-shirts to purchase. If you want, try to let him know ahead time, ok? We have both gray and white.
SO, plan
now to come out and join in the fun today! And pray for some nice weather as well!
See you then!
Thanks,
SJ, that A-man guy, Mr. Ink -- and --
