SIGNUP LIST BELOW:W3SI is organizing another event this year at Road America - refer to http://www.w3si.org/AprilMFBA.htm . Last year we had a lot of people attend the gathering and 11 3/S' participate throughout the midwest. This thread is to help answer questions that people may have regarding the upcoming Midwest F-Body Association "High Performance Driving Event" (HPDE) this April. Questions should be focused ONLY on the event itself. Examples of VALID questions pertain to (but are not limited to): * prepping your car * competition levels and classes * safety concerns * brake pads and rotors * car maintenance during the event * getting rides as a passenger around the track * proper driving techniques * what spectators can do other than just watch * buyouts for track-time (splitting track costs with another person) * registration THIS THREAD IS FOR QUESTIONS ONLY. PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS. All the answers will come from myself or SJ. The reason we are doing it this way is to ensure the validity of the answer and make sure people get the correct information. Please keep posts in this thread "on topic". Posts that do not meet the above rules will be deleted. Also, please make sure to check out http://roadamerica.fbody.us/ for additional information about the event. Thanks. Don't forget to read the tips for beginners from Rich Merritt here -> www.w3si.org/Tips.docMore good information can be found here on the bottom of the page -> http://www.nasaproracing.com/hpde/index.html

my only question: who all is going? I'll be there for sure.... I'm about 50% sure that am driving. It all depends if I can get the AEM fine tuned in time!

I'm comming to watch. Seriously considered entering the Laser, but I don't think the car is up for it. The motor burns a lot of oil at high RPMs.

Suppose I can start a signup list to see who's going to watch and/or race.
1. Jesse Rink (racing) 2. Jon Wieman (racing) 3. Rudy Aries (racing) 4. Rich Merritt (racing) 5. Philip Glazatov (racing) 6. Jack Tertadian (racing) 7. Scott Cowan (racing)
are attending so far, unless cars aren't ready by then (and assuming my track car doesn't blow up the previous weekend when I run with NASA).

Old Poop and others:
What's the recommended settings for TRACK versus street relative to camber, toe, et al?
Please advise.
Thanks,
SJ

Scott, It depends on what you are trying to achieve and what kind of tires you have. Track tires like my Toyo Proxies prefer some serious negative camber (-3.5 or so). Street tires are better with negative camber too, just not as severe. If I were you I'd only run -2.0 or so on your street tires... The difference between front and rear camber depends on what you want from your car. Our cars have a tendency for understeering, so you'd want more negative in the front than in the rear *typically*. That can change though depending on whether you have stiffer front or rear sway bars, etc. Here's a nice chart you can use... http://www.bmwclub.org.hk/techinfo/racetyres.htm

J-man: Well, I think I'll probably be on my BFG z-rated street tires. You and I looked at those Yoko A032-R's in my garage and I think passed. Maybe I'll take some shots and forward to you to show the group and see what they think. I would need to get them mounted on my other set of wheels is all. (If I did, could I drive on them up there? ) I have stock sway bars, but struts bars in front and back and now the 10 mm spacers from the Mad Russian to rectify the understeer -- would you recommend something other than -2.0 both front and rear then? Please advise ASAP. And thanks for the chart -- I'll study that hopefully later, Professor. Best, SJ P.S. Did you bed your Panther's on the street prior to heading up and have them on for the drive up? Any pros and cons?[/b]
