I know the TC has a fill and drain plug, almost on top of each other.
I thought they also had some kind of "weep hole" where one can check the level with ones finger -- true?
Please advise.
Thanks,
SJ

My 6spd transfer case has a rubber plug on the top of the casing, although the hole is hardly big enough to fit a pinky in. I haven't looked over my 5spd transfer case at all.

I do not remember ever seeing this melancholy hole to which you are making reference on either my 5 or 6 speed cases. Then again, I also don't remember how I got dressed this morning.

I do believe there could be a vent hole on the top side of the transfer case with a rubber mushroom shaped thingamajig, but I couldn't say for sure. I don't think you would use that hole to check your fluid level though. Just remove the fill plug and stick yuor pinky in there. If you can touch oil you should be good to go.

Pinky in the fill plug hole should be used.
There is infact a vent on the t case. I have dumped a bit of fluid on the ground when I left the T case on the drive shaft for the turbo conversion.

SJ,
If he overfilled it, you will in fact have fluid coming from the vent plug on top of T-case. Have you determined if it's leaking down from the top, in back by the seal, or elsewhere?
Guessing he had car jacked up ( not level ), filled T-case, and went on his merry way. Now that car is level, you are leaking because too much fluid was put in.
Don't lose sleep, just take a look. You can jack the car up LEVEL, and take out fill plug. Any excess will drain out. Or, you can drain it and start over adding the correct amount. Either way will be fine.
