I will be checking in Thursday evening, have the day off of work on the 19th. We will see you guys on Friday when you get in, or is anyone else coming up Thursday evening?

Hey everyone, I haven't made any updates for a couple of weeks. I did update the sign-up list. We are up to 63 now. woo-hoo! See: http://www.mn3s.org/upper-midwest-list.htmlOf course since Minnesota has gotten two feet of snow this week its getting hard to be pumped up for Spring. Don't forget to make your hotel arrangements soon. I know Baker's is gonna get close to sold out by the time the UMG is here. later, Curt

Hey everyone, finally got a transmission in my 91 vr4 after two years of cold storage (tranny is damn expensive). What better way to test it out then head out to your gathering. I've had the car for about seven years and never made it to a gathering, shame on me. Anyway, dropped by to make sure this was still an active event, which it looks like it is, and will be making my hotel reservations this week. I also picked up a 92 3000gt DOHC for 900 bucks, guy blew the timing belt (of course) and ruined the heads. Found a set of heads for 500 and timing belt, head gasket set for 100 and should have it up and running in a few weeks. Aside from that the car is in great shape. I'll probably have a buddy and his gf drive it to the gathering also. Question: Are there going to be people around Thursday evening? I'd like to get the drive out of the way before Friday so I can relax the rest of the weekend and thought I'd check if there were any "unofficial" plans Thursday pm. Also, anyone else coming from GR, MI area? Look forward to meeting everyone, I checked out all the previous years pictures and it looks like everyone had a blast. One last thing, it looks like 3si.org re-did their forums and I couldn't find the nice, convenient links to the events anymore. Clicking on events takes you to the archives and no obvious topics clicking on forums that I could see. Wasn't sure if someone here worked on that forum also or could pass the word along. I originally found the link here from there so it's quite helpful to be represented on that site I think. Anyone want to see pictures. My album is on-line, I'll link the gallery and just click on the album called "vroom" for pics of both cars. Pics of my new son also (who costs way more than both the cars put together, go figure). http://www.untangible.com/gallery/main. ... temId=2269See you in May. Bret

Hey bret,
Yes, it is still an active event so head on over for a great time. I will be there Thursday night, not sure how many others will be, but my "unofficial" plans involve food and drinking. More then welcome to jump in on those plans if you would like.

Mmmmm, beeeerrr. I have a keg system built into my 2nd fridge so it sounds like I'll be in good company. I'll plan on getting to the hotel late afternoon or so on Thursday. Dinner and beeeerrr will hit the spot after the drive. I'll probably trailer my mits behind my avalanche, I still haven't rolled 100k miles on it yet and don't know that I want to pound highway miles on it. I hope there is lots of parking, sounds like we'll need it. Maybe I can get some cell numbers or two-ways from people who are going to be there, or I'll just drop a message here when I leave the house with an ETA. My e-mail is in my profile if any of the early arrivers want to take me up on the numbers. I promise not to submit your number to too many tele-marketing companies I would say just look for my car, it should say distinct as I thought just having my car in exceptional running condition with a custom paint job and wheels would make it pretty distinct, but looking at last years pics I think my car will be average at best, there are some really nice cars in those pics. Either way, count me in. Looking forward to it, the real challenge will be getting my girl-friend to de-tach from our (then to be 6 mo old) son for three nights. Take care. Bret

Hey Bret,
I'll be there on Thursday. I'm not sure what my plans are yet for Thursday evening. Usually I end up going to the movies. The Dells has a very nice movie theater. A couple of days before the event I'll post my contact info.
Most regional 3/S events can be found on the "Midwest forum" on 3si.org. The UMG has a sticky thread in there. But states like Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan all have there own message system, and don't really use 3si.org for there chapters.
The UMG keeps getting bigger every year. Its gonna be fun!!
later, Curt

Just made my room reservation. Very affordable, polite to talk to, I even got the exact room I wanted. I love Sunset Bay! I hope they let us hang out in the parking lot like we did last year. Seemed like they were a little uneasy about that as the night got later and later.....

Dave, the x-navy seal wasn't worried. (the security guard.) Gawd was I smashed when I talked to him. That was shortly before I puked all over the bed, and Greg's X-girlfriend was ultra-proud of me. Then Greg goes to her, "eh, that's Adam. He's fine" Oh my. Good times. Good times.

Hey everyone,
I called the hotel today. Looks like we have 21 rooms reserved for our group. Thats awesome so far! But there are only about 10 rooms left in the main building. So if you want one of the cheaper rooms, you better make your reservations now. I can almost guaranteed those rooms are gonna get gobbled up in the next couple of weeks.
There are still a fair number of rooms left in some of the other buildings, but those are the bigger units with bedrooms and living rooms with pull out coaches. Those bigger units are more like $100 to $120 a night.
So, right now we have 66 people signed up for the UMG and 21 rooms booked at the hotel. Its looking real good!
later, Curt
