Did I just meet you greg here in onalaska? driving down hwy 16 (mall area). I was driving my first gen dark green steath TT and you where driving a second gen 3000gt? I asked if you where jason which was stupid - I know jason has a red 3000gt. You said you just dropped him off. small world (I have never met jason in person either)
BTW my name is sam.
I gave you a wot hoping you would turn into best buy with me. oh well
Very nice car by the way. I am a sucker for second gen headlights.
I was out trying to tune my maft with my new 550cc injectors - have a little hesitation in what I think is the high trim range. Looking at the logs just know I think I may be running too rich - my o2 trim drops lower than 50% at that point.
nice seeing you - when you are up this way let me know.
sam

That was Greg. He had just dropped me off in La Crosse so I could get to work on time. Quite a sucky weekend as far as working on cars, but good otherwise (beer, food and bonfires with blackmagic)
Looks like I should get a new shortblock, oil cooler, and return lines.
First I need to get 3000 bucks. People talk about being nickle and dimed to death.
More like hundred dollar bills.

I was wondering if that was you. I'm sorry I didn't stay to talk. I was in a rush to get to Prarie Du Sac to help my grandparents with their boat dock. Yeh, there are a lot of uhm.... women in that area. I might be back soon for a visit. I mean I can make some time to head up there if you need some help with anything.

Boy - never heard that one before. Going to school in lacrosse for the women. Maybe I have just been here too long. I guess it is a college town. Or maybe because I am married I don't notice? You would think it would be the opposite. :0 good to know it was you. How did my car sound? did it blow any smoke? Thanks for the offer. I normally do everything my self. Now that I put the 550cc injectors in I have an odd issue with what I would describe as the 3s 3k rpm hesitation. Not quite sure what is going on. I would have to say it reminds me of the lean condision caused by the fuel pump resister. I am full hotwired though. I will keep goofing around though. It happens in closed loop - seems to be in the high fuel trim range (above 180hz). WOT is fun as hell - 16psi to redline sam thanks sam

What's your timing in that range? I'm assuming you checked your ignition timing. If that's all good, then you might need to play with the tune some. Like, lean the base correction 5-10% and compensate the other knobs.
How did it sound? Stock catback needs to go. No smoke though! You're definately not running too rich.

def not getting a cat back for a while. This is project low buck The atr downpipe with main cat delete sure is nice though. timing while the thing is acting up is around 33deg. The base timing hasn't been checked for a month or so but the last time it was right at 5deg. I am trying to think of what I could have screwed up while changing the injectors - I pressure tested yesterday and didn't find any leaks. My crushed stock bov leaks a little past the valve but it doesn't seem like much. Maybe I will check the vaccum line to the fuel pressure regulator. my fuel pressure seems to fluxuate more than I think it should. I can't measure differantial pressure yet so it is hard to tell. here is an example. notice when it gets above 3000 rpm it start to level out. rpm...fuel pressure 2281..38.7 2406..40.6 2468..37.2 2562..39.1 2656..35.7 2687..37.2 2718..36.7 2843..39.1 2906..39.6 2937..37.7 3013..37.7 3062..38.7 3156..36.7 3156..38.2 3281..38.2 3312..38.7 3343..38.2 3437..38.2 3531..37.7 3593..37.7 3625..37.2 3625..36.7 3687..40.1 3781..37.7 3812..39.6

Stock fuelpressure regulator? What fuel pump? Those readings are common with a rewired walbro/denso/supra and stock regulator.
How old is your fuel filter?

fuel filter is about a year and a half old 20,000 miles. Walbro fp with aem afpr (robbecks adaptor).
sam
My mid trim runs around 100% - can't lean out the base setting any more I don't think

I wonder if the return orifice is too small like the stock one... samco wrote: My mid trim runs around 100% - can't lean out the base setting any more I don't think Don't take the fuel trims to heart. In fact, think of them more as a guide. Even if you get them close to 100, they're always going to change with different conditions.

The aem afpr comes with the smalles oarfice in it. I put the next size bigger one in. I just went by what eric gross found out. He was over running his aem afpr with the smallest port. I don't have over run at idle. my fuel pressure is at 33 psi with the vaccum line connected with a base set at 43.5
thanks sam

Are you ready for this? This is stupid. The last time I pressure tested I blew the front turbo intake hose of like I normally do. Re-hose clamped it and thought everything was hunkie dorie. After driving the car into work today (was running really crappy.) I decided to give it a once over again. I was looking to see if all the injectors where clamped down tight - looked good. I then looked at the rear turbo intake piping. It was off the intake of the turbo - just sitting up against it.
when I pressure tested last time it popped both the intakes off the turbo.
Stupid - stupid - stupid
back to retuning - Thanks greg
